So 2gb has paid for the rights to broadcast Rugby League, do they ever go to the game???, the last time I heard them they were broadcasting the game from there studios at Pyrmont. What a waste of money.
same for the Sat nite game, when the ABC go off and broadcast a Yawnion game there is no coverage of the late Sat gamesThe agreement should be reached on the proviso that there is somehow access to the second Friday game. When both states go with the same game live on Nine, 2GB is at the behest of the networks to broadcast it, as is ABC - and then we're left with NO live coverage anywhere in Australia of the second Friday fixture.
Actually Hughes said on air today that the NRL didn't even bring these contracts out to tender, they just resigned without considering any other offers.

Yep. I spoke to a 2UE staffer last night who said they were willing to put in an application to call Saturday nights and have a five hour RL show leading into it, but the NRL has just renewed the current deal without contacting any other potential applicants. 2GB do not call Sat night games so you would think the NRL would at least be interested in filling the obvious holes.
The NRL are an absolute disgrace.
I wouldn't be surprised if the next TV deal follows the same path. They just renew it and put out a press release saying THIS IS IT with the usual nauseating spin.
So, they do the call from the Foxtel feed???So 2gb has paid for the rights to broadcast Rugby League, do they ever go to the game???, the last time I heard them they were broadcasting the game from there studios at Pyrmont. What a waste of money.

Wow, thats hopeless.
Yes I am,Green Machine, are you aware the extent of the network the 2GB show goes out to?
I noticed a sh*t load of them FM station are in isolated aboriginal communities in Central Australia. It includes a sh*tload of FM stations. For the record - that list:
As someone who comes from regional NSW and someone who still travels around NSW with work, there does seem to be a gaping hole in the coverage in Rugby League areas in NSW, particularly in North West, Far West, Riverina, and Far North Coast especially in places like Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri, Coonabarabran, Moree, Armidale, Inverell, Glen Innes, Taree, Dubbo, Wagga, Cootamundra, Temora, Young, Griffith, Albury, Grafton, Lismore and Tweed Heads. That's just Friday night. There's more on Saturday. Full list here: http://rugbyleaguelive.com/WhereToHear.aspx
Raaay and his team dont go to the ground on Saturday do they?Incorrect.
They attend most matches in the Sydney and surrounding areas.
Too expensive? Airfares have never been cheaper.Any interstate games where it is too expensive to send a full crew, they call from the Pyrmont Studios, with specialised monitors, and all the audio feeds they would normally have at the ground, as well as a sideline reporter who is at the ground.
Im sure you dontThey still attend 75%+ of matches they call and I don't have a problem with it.
Its radio Timmy, whod know the differenceFew seem to notice the difference.
Your vendetta is quite pathetic, you hate a radio broadcast team :lol:Raaay and his team dont go to the ground on Saturday do they?

Nine CEO David Gyngell has been forced to slash $40 million in costs from his network's balance sheet so far this year to help debt-ridden private equity firm CVC.
Things have been so tight at Nine that rumours circulated last month that the network was trying to offload big-budget events including the Olympic Games, Winter Olympics and the Logie Awards telecast.
Nine has denied the rumours and says it will be a serious bidder for the next lot of AFL rights.
"Seven would like us out of the game but we're still in the mix," a Nine spokesperson says.
"The (budget) cuts don't affect the capacity to bid for product which rates and pays its way -- which AFL does of course."
Ive got no vendetta against Raaays Vaudeville team. I havent listened to his show in over 2 years.Your vendetta is quite pathetic, you hate a radio broadcast team
I thought Andrew calls all the Saturday games. I thought Raaay saves himself for his Vaudeville Show between 12.00-5.00pm.Ray doesn't often go to the ground on Saturday, when he doesn't Andrew Moore does.
Melbourne is far reaching? Last time I went to Melbourne, it was an hours plane ride. The ABC always fly a call team to Melbourne for Saturday games. They even do it for Friday and Sunday games. Most Cowboy games are at 7.30pm on a Saturday night and 2GB don't cover 7.30pm.When the game is in a far-reaching place like Townsville, Auckland or Melbourne is when they normally do the interstate thing.
I think it cheapens the product. Since the NRL dont receive a lot of money for exclusive coverage from a Sydney based radio station, I think they should open up their product to as many diverse radio station (AM & FM) in as may markets as possible. I think they need to broaden the appeal of Rugby League to as many radio stations as possible and make sure the sports departments have Rugby League friendly people there, passing comment on Rugby League. The NRL are selling radio rights to call games, not rights to Vaudeville Shows,What exactly is your problem with them not going to the ground? As long as they call the game accurately (which they seem to), I don't see the problem.

Id bet that they dont want 2UE because Fairfax (their owner) is a competitor to News Ltd. Self interest always comes before the interests of the game
Cheapens the product? They've been doing it throughout the year and you'll struggle to find more than a couple of people having even noticed it. Only now that one or two people now know are they complaining - there's no difference on the radio whatsoever.
Where have I mentioned blatant lies Timmy? Not that I would call your description of Foxsports Viewers Choice option as specialised monitorsThe rest of your post I completely agree with, and have not said differently. I just don't see the need to death-ride the 2GB with what are in some cases blatant lies in order to state your case.
"Of course it cheapens the product" Yes, with all that evidence you've supplied. Having never listened to it (you earlier admitted you haven't tuned into them in over 2 years), how would you know what effect it has on the broadcast?Of course it cheapens the product. You only have to see how cheap Channel 7s coverage of the Union Tests is when they call the game from the Epping studios. I could just imagine anyone daring to ring up Raaay and complain,

Regardless, you seem to think you know alot about the studio set-up at 2GB despite not having listened to them in that long... You're full of sh*t somewhere along the line...
