It amazes me why your club has to continually nab our youngtalent that we have nurtured and slowlly developed and shown patience with. Now your getting our talented rookie Beau Henry after last year getting Josh Kent . When does it stop ? are your junior ranks that dismal, I'm starting to wonder why we bother developing our own just for others to nab. Goes in cycles. Dogs got pillaged a few years ago, now it's the Dragons producing the talent.

Really it's a credit to our management that their are able to lure this talent away. If teams relied soley on junior talent to fill the ranks, clubs would have decades of poor results. Look at Souths 1990-2004 for the best example of that.

Yes, but they never made major forays into the market over the period mentioned. Since then they've been signing bigger names but those bigger names seem to either to fail majorly in form or injury.

Canterbury can't be held accountable for St George having poor recruitment and retention staff. All clubs develop players for years and then lose them just as they hit (or even before) first grade. It's happened to us several times... Jonathan Thurston is a prime example.

TBH he's the only guy on here who's brought that up. I can't find a source on the net for this alleged signing. If, and I stress IF we have indeed signed Beau whom I believe is a halfback, what chance does he stand playing in the halves over Soward and Hornby? The Dragons need to lock their youngsters in to long-term deals (not too long though) to give them a chance to come through at the club. Look at what we've done with Barba and Idris for example.

Something for all slimy Dogs supporters to get excited. I am good friends with someone on the Dragons board and he has told me you have hit the jackpot. You are about to get an absolute gem of a player. This kid has been on fire for years in the lower grades but Bennett doesnt believe he is ready. He is staying with Sowie and Hornby who cant take us to the next level. FMD Doust what are you taking. We have invested so much in this kid and now you lose him to Lakemba.

It's the intended effect of the salary cap.

The intention of the salary cap isn't to spread the player talent. It's there to keep some clubs from going broke and to restrict escalating player wages that would otherwise spiral out of control. Saying that it is there to create an even competition is just rubbish and something they say to make it wash with the public and with the players. The real question should be asked about where the money the NRL is making is being spent (or who pockets it), because the clubs are only receiving a third of what the league generates. Where do the other two thirds go?
