Bulldogs sponsor vents fury at David Gallop

They should have either kicked them out for the season (which they couldn't) or found a way to get them back under the cap so they are playing meaningful fixtures, for the sake of the integrity of the competition, not the Melbourne Storm.

They are playing meaningful fixtures.

All their games are worth 2 points to the opposition.

Looks like this fool has not thought his poxy ad out, rushed in, made a rash decision and looks like a goose. Ironic given what he's accusing gallop of doing.

I imagine this will be the "proof" Gould will repeat ad nauseum of how the games stake holders think this is a bad decision.

Sorry but the real stakeholders, the fans, you know the reason that companies like Jaycar are involved with the game and the reason Gould is not a worn out dish pig in the back of Penrith RSL are the only ones whose opinions should count in any of this.

They are the ones that Gallop seemed to listen to, they are the ones who were offended by Bulldogs players taking pay cuts to keep a cheating team together which has seen the rules change.

I wonder how all of the staff of Jaycar who are NRL fans agree with this statement?

Well that was a big brain explosion. No Jaycar for me anymore, same goes for any company that publicly supports cheating.

LOL

He didn't support it...he just thought a better decision could have been made.

Read it again you toolbox.

But I will say it is quite silly to come out and just smash the CEO of the game.

Sure I think a better decision could have been made...but I wouldn't pay for a full page ad to tell people about it.

yeah cause letting the storm play for points with an illegal team is ok...sponsors need to shut up and stop trying to get things done there way..sharks should know, PKF got its head into the bird saga then pissed off...

Leave Gallop alone... he is trying his best considering the position he is in. It's too easy to take swipes from the grandstand... I bet if this douche or Phil Douchman even stepped into Gallops shoes, they'd run away quicker than Jennings bursting through the line

Does this bloke think he is talking for all league fans here?
Well he's not talking for me, there is no way in hell should the Storm with a illegal squad should be able to play for points and make the finals this year ( the have the squad to win the comp and what then? with the NRL have to strip them of that title?)
This letter smells of Gus Gould i bet they are mates it looks like Gus has had some input in this.

Is it too simple to ask the following questions of the Melbourne players - especially given the "discovery" of the second set of contracts ...... 1 ) Did you sign TWO contracts , of differing amounts ? and / or 2 ) Have you received cash payments on match days .

The first answer should be easily verified against actual documents , the second a lot harder to prove .

If the answer to EITHER question , though , is YES ...... then they should be suspended from both the competition and any REP GAMES for the remainder of the season .

That way , if it were only a "select few" who were knowingly participating in the rort , the remaining "clean " players could then play out the season for points .

At the END of the season , the Storm should then have to release those players to the open market , and if they want to retain them , they should have to pay the equivalent ( or higher ) of the highest WRITTEN "bid" made by any of the other clubs .

Too simplistic ????

AN OPEN LETTER TO DAVID GALLOP.
NOT HAPPY, DAVID.
When Melbourne’s salary cap rort was discovered, many of us anticipated your previously
demonstrated crisis management skills to snap into action. To a large extent t his has happened.
However, I was astonished to hear then that you capped of f Melbourne’s punishment with this
requirement to expect Melbourne to play for the rest of the year for no points !
As you know there has been an outcry about this from both the media and the public. You were
asked by Ray Warren on the 2MMM Saturday morning football segment who else made this
decision. You appeared to be total ly unreceptive. It now appears that you made this decision
without the NRL Board being included.
You were roundly criticized by Ray Warren at the time. He called the idea “absurd.” Phil Gould and
others have more or less said the same thing.
So far you have obstinately refused to even consider well thought out practical alternatives to this
Which is a shame as you are an otherwise good administrator.
This debacle has been brought about by the unrealist ic rules of the salary cap which you have at
all times staunchly defended. It’s a good idea but needs far more work, work which you do not
seem to think necessary.
By taking the position you have you are going to ensure the hatred of the Melbourne fans and other lovers of fair play and leave a legacy that you do not deser ve. It takes the focus off
Melbourne’s crime and puts it on YOU.
Do you really want to be remembered for this?
PLEASE RECONSIDER OR LEAVE.

Gary Johnston,
Managing Director
Jaycar Electronics Group

Now the bolded bit above struck me as just emotional rubbish thats demonstrably incorrect.

If you take a look at the majority position taken by many (not all) storm fans here is that they are in complete denial of the unfair cheating nature of this scandal. Most are blaming anything or anyone else.

Lovers of fair play eh.

I respect this guy for putting his $$ where his mouth is. Supporting the game is something that we need more businesses to do. However, what his talking about is crap. It's not helping and just being more divisive.

Everyone just needs to face the facts.

Melbourne Cheated the game.
Melbourne Cheated the other clubs.
Melbourne Cheated the other players.
Melbourne Cheated the fans.

There is no easy way to fix this that will appease everyone.
There is no method of getting Melbourne to comply to the rules this year that will be fair to all other clubs, their players and their supporters. Someone, some group, somewhere will feel slighted and dudded.

This is not the fault of David Gallop.
This is not the fault of the NRL.
This is not the fault of the other 15 clubs.

It is the sole fault of the Melbourne Storm.

Some of the posts here that say Sponsors should keep their mouths shut are absolutley absurd. If anything, club sponsors are key stakeholders in any competition and should have every right to comment.
