Do you want to put it onto your computer? If so you plug your VHS unit into a video capture card & go for it. If you've got a VHS/DVD all in one unit you can copy from one format to the other.

Get yourself a Hard Drive/DVD Recorder. (I have one - they are f**king awesome).

Plug your Video recorder into it and away you go. i have converted all my videos of the kids onto DVD!

Capture cards start from around $50 and you tend to get what you pay for.

There are issues with using certain capture cards such as a weak signal strength usually due to the poor quality cables provided. You may also lose frames during capture depending on the quality of the card and the software provided. I don't know the duration of the VHS tape you want to convert but you may end up with a very large avi file after capture which you will have to covert to mpeg or vcd.

The easiest way is to follow the suggestion of Forward Pass. If you know anybody with a dvd recorder that you can use you will save yourself alot of time and effort.

YOu could just go into Harvey Norman or Clive Peter's & plug one in & start recording. If the sales guys ask you what you are doing just tell em your field testing.
