Darren Locker urges referees to take control of Origin I

Queensland captain Darren Lockyer has urged referees Tony Archer and Shayne Hayne to draw a line in the sand to prevent State of Origin returning to its bad old days of brawls.

Lockyer and his players were incensed by NSW prop Justin Poore's act of lifting an unconscious Price off the ground and dropping him, but the Blues were equally angered by Lockyer's subsequent sanctioning of a 79th minute bomb by Cameron Smith from a penalty, that ignited more brawling.

NSW skipper Kurt Gidley was set upon by Queensland players as he tried to defuse the kick, which was taken rather than the regular option of kicking for touch.

"It probably got a bit out of hand, that's for sure," Lockyer admitted.

"The game was lost, we had a minute to go and we wanted to finish the set tackling.

"The ball went down to them (Gidley) and it all erupted again but that was not the plan.

"It obviously left a bad taste in their mouth and they're going to use that coming into this game."

I think Locky's plan was to see if any of the current crop of NSW had a sack. The NSW greats would have been disgusted watching a backrower push a QLDAer and then RUN behind his own players.

Geyer, Roach, Spud Carroll, McGaw, etc would have been devastated.

If QLD do lose this year, the only hope is that NSW grow a set of testicles in the process of winning....it's becoming embarrassing watching what has happened to our once strong and fear-inspiring adversary.

Do you mean like when White knocked out that fat lump Price? He started it, and yet Queensland is complaining?

I saw Shillington talking it up on Foxsports on how the Queenslanders have been looking forward to getting square with him.

So who is going to take him on this time, Civoneciva?

White's hand will explode if he punches Petero's head.

Dead set the hardest head in football.

Karate kick him?

Probably just sledge him to death and then hide behind the forwards. I fail to see the big deal with Brett White. I wish Hodges was playing so maybe three Blues players could hold him down in a tackle while Gidley comes in and belts his ribs a couple of times.

They could do that. Wouldn't hurt.

Only reason hes whinging is probably because he knows it could have the desired effect of getting the Maroons off their game.

 yeah Ben Creagh's gonna smash us

Ben Creagh would know out Hodges and most Queensland players easily. Just cos he has no bark doesn't mean he hasn't got a bite.

Already your fearless leader is in the media trying to make the game as soft as possible, scared of the mighty blues physical prowess.
