Who had/has a more horrible style of football?

More boring/annoying to watch?

Well....we all know that the dragons have been the dominant team during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Before that, the Storm did pretty well. Question is, who were the more horrible team to watch?

The Storm were known for grappling away in tackles and slowing down the play the ball. For some unknown reason the referees let them get away with it in almost every game. They might as well have had Hulk Hogan and the Macho Man as their front rowers

The Dragons are largely devoid of creativity, and rely on a dour defensive approach to work teams down. As last year proved, they have nothing when teams turn up the pressure a few notches

Its just a shame that teams who actually play rugby league properly (the tigers are a good example) are worn down by teams that bastardise the game

i agree with what warren ryan said , the dragons wont need to lift a gear this year , they have the attack to score points when needed and other teams are struggling to score points against them.

Teams are the ones who need to lift thier attack and defense is the opposition , where the dragons dont

Panthers like the dragons- have more then one or two attackers , danger

majority of teams this year rely heavily on attack and 1 or 2 players

tigers

Eels
Manly

Titans ,

Broncos

and the other teams just dont have defense to keep teams from scoring

The structured approach has found to catch the Dragons out in finals...the concern is that if they choose to adopt this style then they need to be able to step it up when they are behind in a finals game.

but which team is capable of stepping up against the dragons , other teams are fairly predictable this year

its a question this year whether teams can lift and be less predictable in attack for the dragons defense

so far i cant see many teams be able to lift in attack, panthers are a side what has more then 1 or 2 attackers which can hurts teams in attack

Both those teams being the probally the 2 most successful teams..

Bit hard to agree with that when im watching Slater, Inglis and some time back Izzy.. producing spectacular moments of footy.. more so then anything else ive ever seen in rugby league before.

I'd rather watch the Dragons "boring" yet clinical displays than a team not functioning. We wer great against Melbourne - but it wasn't any more exciting than watching Saints. Then again, try watching us play Cronulla or Newcastle. Pulling teeth is a better option.

Moffo would prefer to watch the Dogs lose every weekend. Come to think of it, so would I

HEY! They don't lose every week dude. They won a game in April.

I think.......

Their fans miust be in raptures about the style. Let's look at the facts. It bores everyone to death. They were home last night to the team coming 3rd, are top of the table, another Sydney team who brought along a ton of fans. They got 16,500. What a pisspoor turnout on a very mild night. Now if they were going as good as what a few here are saying they'd have crammed 20,000 in. But the didn't and can't, because their style even bores a large chunk of their own fans. The proof is in the pudding of a very very shot crowd last night.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: again.

Hey Steady. At least the Tigers are entertaining. Thats way more important than winning. Can't understand why you're upset pal.

The dragons defense is whats beating teams not their very structured attack. As someone eluded to they dont need to do anything flashy their defense is making other teams make low percentage plays and they feed off these plays and like last night come home like a train.
I dont like their football but gee its hard to see any other team causing them to much grief

Dragons play a very structured form of football which is very successful, but completely boring to watch. I'd rather watch a team who plays that ad lib football anyday.
I suggest you stop watching NRL and just watch Toyota Cup games.
The 46-30 scorelines should appeal to you.

EVERY nrl side plays predictable football. Bring back the scrum as a contest and this will be cured.

As much as I hate them, I think the Drags will win the comp, easily!
Last years exit was as bad as a grand final loss.
Plus, who can stop them? Parra have to get there first, not that they're in the same form as last season.
Penrith, possible, but still have to improve defense.

The fact that dragons took so long to dispose of a team using it's fourth string halfback, a not 100% fullback, hooker and winger, shows that they will have more trouble later on if these two sides meet again.

All your halves are sh*t anyway.

Coops, Gaz, Hunt, Fien out. Smith and Young playing injured (to counter your Farrar injured arguement).

Much bigger losses than your nuffies.

We've won every game with Moltzen at half, and Gaz out? He doesn't count. I'll give you Fien, but Cooper isn't anything special.

Lui/Moltzen are better than Hornby.

I really enjoy these type of threads.

I didn't realise how much we are loved, thought off and respected by so many of the LU community.

Ladmate, I tend to agree, the match would have been far more interesting with Moltzen playing. In addition, we had the home ground advantage, which I believe, means quite a great deal. I wonder, if Moltzen was in and we played at your home ground, what the scoreline would have been. Stupid speculation I know, but I am trying to allude to future matches between the two clubs.

I firmly believe, it will be clubs like the Tigers, Manly and Penrith, not to mention the Broncs, that will be hard to beat from now on in and the semi's.

Just my thoughts.

PS

We just need to keep playing our style of footy and keep Uncle Wayne's surprises to later on in the season.

Hornby isn't a specialist halfback like thurston etc ,
But would lui or moltzen improved the defense, whether thier attack would have been enough to crack the dragons defense hard to know.

 at FastEddie saying there were heaps of Tigers fans. i was there last night and it was about 80% Dragons fans. it was a sea of red and white.

although i have to give Tigers fans props, there was more of them than Parra fans at the last Kogarah game.

this thread is just hating on the Dragons because we are leading the comp. gee, sorry for being awesome.

Injuries aside, take Marshall out and replace him with a 47 year old Mick Neil and the scores would have been closer. Poor old Farah tried his guts out only to be undermined by the bipolar messiah.

As for St George, they're far and away the best team in the competition. The only concern is that they might come up against a red-hot Penrith/ Brisbane/ Canberra/ Tigers/ Souths side in the finals and struggle. I have no doubt that they're playing within themselves at the moment but perhaps they should experiment a bit more so that they can play that al-lib style should the necessity arise.
