If it was based on workrate Parker or Gallen will win it. Their tackle and hit up counts have been incredible this year.

Yes Stagg makes alot of tackles. However, he only makes about 8 hit ups a game.

Based on workrate: David Stagg

Defensive workrate? Sure.

With the ball though he is pretty far behind others, Gallen in particular.
Stagg has 193 Hitups for 1326 metres.
Gallen has 389 hitups for 3068 metres.

Stagg does have 200 more tackles though (869 v 628).

Stagg's been top tackler a few seasons in a row now IIRC...

Stagg is useless in attack.

Would give it to Gallen, as much as he is a grub, would love him in my side.

stats wise gallen. he puts in more work than just about anyone in the comp.

dunno if he will win the award though

gallen does more work than a prop and a second rower combined.

its how effective they are that i believe is more important.

my pick is lewis.

the panthers are a totally different side without him.

Luke Lewis or Corey Parker. They've both been outstanding this year. Gallen has been good but I don't think he's been that much better than previous years whereas the other two have.

Never said it was. But those two have improved on last year and are the two best running around. Gallen has been good but I don't think he's been that much better than previous years.

Gallen despite being in a crummy side. Corey Parker would be the roughie imo. Luke Lewis may have missed too much footy.

im not a big fan of him... because he gives me the sh*ts when hes got the ball in hand...

but considering the defensive workload the bloke has... im a wee bit surprised Michael Luck's name hasnt been mentioned.

Gallen's got a big enough lead to hang on. Whenever the Sharks win (and he plays), he's a big part of that success. Even in the Canberra game recently, he was a colossus despite being on the losing side.

Lewis could've gone close as he's been one the best Panthers this season.
