Smith to Sharks

THE Cronulla Sharks have continued an impressive build-up for next season by snaring the signature of St George-Illawarra Dragons forward Jeremy Smith late last night.
Just a week after signing Penrith's boom youngster Wade Graham, new Sharks coach Shane Flanigan enticed
Smith to the club to play alongside renowned hardman Paul Gallen in the back the row.
Smith knocked back a massive offer from the Newcastle Knights to sign with the NRL battlers.
Cronulla is also hopeful of Panthers winger Brad Tighe and Souths centre Colin Best in the next few days.
There is also speculation the club with drop winger Blake Ferguson for Friday night's game against the Roosters to allow for the comeback of Isaac Gordon.

topou was a bench guy TBH. 80 minutes dosnt suit him. a better option would be to have pommeroy start games in the second row and have him come on.

can smith play halfback?

obviously smith wants to slum it for a while.

i still don't honestly know if he's a good player or not.

He’s a good player and Cronulla will pay good money for him
Moving to a club so close means he doesn’t need to move house etc. so financially it makes a lot of sense
He’s coming into form of late and if he stays fit will be a real asset during the final series
That said turned 30 in April and is definitely approaching the sunset of his NRL career.
Having his NRL premiership ring with the Storm declared a fake and now that he’s going to a club where making the 8 is seen as a potential pinnacle, will make him all the more keen to help us get the premiership in 2010. (if that’s possible)
2010 is now the best chance for Smith, Costigan and Saffy of the likely GF team (assuming that we’re there) to celebrate on GF day
Excellent motivation if any extra was needed.

I think that all three of our talented back rowers will be missed next year but have faith in Benny to bring Marketto and others up to speed for our 2011 campaign

is he a prop or a back rower?

He’s a back rower who can fill in at prop where necessary
Bennett obviously rates Costigan better at prop and Smith better at lock than Scott or perhaps he view Scott as a RHS specialist at this time
Smith played lock for NZ and captained the side under Bennett’s guidance when they beat us.

We will miss costigan and smith. I am not sure we can replace their toughness. Hopefully there might be someone else in Waynes mind.

I thought Smith was disappointing when he filled in at prop. Definitely a back rower.

Completely agree, both tough aggresive forwards.

F*ck F*ck F*ck F*ck F*ck, regardless of the low number of games he has played for us, he is still good value when he finally plays.

It was only 2 years ago Bennet bought these guys to toughen up our forward pack. Interesting that now the club thinks we no longer need them.

whoever signs with the sharks is as delusional as old folks walking through antarctica butt naked trying to get home to northern europe.

We never got to see jeremy at his best, being injured all the fkn time never really helped.

Didnt colin best play for the sharks before he came here in 2005?
