worst is a good player.

he makes some hair-brained defensive decisions but on the whole the guppies should be happy to get him & p*ss bumper farrel off.

Has he scored a meat pie yet this season? Maybe he has opted to play for the Scum rather then do the nudey run.

We bought in Gaznier and that weakens our defense
and we loose out two Toughest Back rowers in Costigan and Smith
Is this a sign the Style of play will change next year?

he's been pretty snappy this season for 50uths.

I wonder if next year will end up one of those 'rebuilding' years ala 2007-2008. Hopefully we wont see the likes of Richie Williams being the next big thing!

I had a bit of a chuckle when the news reader girl on TV described him as "Illawarra enforcer Jeremy Smith".

Rebuilding is a bit of a over reaction.

Sure we'll miss Smith and Costigan. But lets be honest,we've played the majority of the year without Smith and have won most of those games.

1. Boyd
2. Morris
3. Gasnier
4. Cooper
5. Nightingale
6. Soward
7. Hornby
8. Hunt
9. Fien
10. Weyman
11. Scott
12. Creagh
13. Young

14. Merrin

Final 3 spots is anyones guess.

It was only 2 years ago Bennet bought these guys to toughen up our forward pack. Interesting that now the club thinks we no longer need them.

the salary cap dictates that we can no longer have them - its got nothing to do with not wanting them.
costigan's value would have nearly doubled in teh last 2 seasons - he came to us as a player on his last chance due to off field problems - and has left regaining his state of origin place being one of the form forwards going around.

we cant keep them all. smith was an obvious choice to let go given his age and his lack of game time, costigan simply increased his value beyond our capability to keep him given the other back rowers we have at the club...

PS - Wade Graham and Smith wont save the gummies - they will still run last next season...

Right on the money.

The success we had was always going to jump the price of our players. Boyd, Nightingale, Morris, Soward, Costigan, Hunt, Weyman, Scott, Prior, Merrin - All players doing very well and their price is consequently going to go up.

Bennett looks to be moving with a core of players, and is keeping certain elements in the side. I imagine he'll look to promote a younger forward and and older forward and drill into them the importance of being hardasses on the field.

We're a victim of our own success. People using Gas as a scape goat are ignoring our last 18 - 24 months of success. Both on and off field. Gas, sure - Lot's of money. But if he wins us a GF, I can guaran-f**king- tee I'll hear a lot of words being eaten.
