Why don't you catch the Government Olympic Park Major Event bus?

http://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/sop/

Your Grand Final ticket includes the fare for this bus which can be caught on any of the routes shown on the website.

I see you're from the Hunter. Are you driving down for the day or staying somwhere?

We caught the bus from (and back to) Roselands and it's much easier than driving and parking. The added bonus is that you travel with a bus load full of people wearing red and white! That doesn't happen very often.

Public transport is all well and good for getting to the game - but wont it take forever to get the train back to Redfern and transfer to Carlton?

Surely a club organised direct bus for Leagues club members would be the go.

On the way back to the leagues club from the ground, we are getting the major event bus which goes to Rockdale station (no.4 bus). Then we are getting a train to Carlton from there. It's much better than catching a train to Redfern/Central then a train to Carlton.

Spoke to someone at the leagues club, the football club will be organising busses tomorrow, give them a buzz then. Unless you are a leagues club member don't even consider going back to the Taj, you wont get in.

Although if you are not going to the game you may be able to get in early. However because it's GF day the club advised initially it would be members + 1 guest. I would not take this as gospel, but I would be trying to organise club membership to give yourself the best chance to get in after the GF.

I wondered about that last Saturday...here's me thinking it was just a coincidence!

Guys

FYI from the JA forum

Just spoke to a lady at the Taj. She said they will be releasing details about a post-match function on Wednesday afternoon. She did mention that Jubilee Oval WILL be open that night, which leads me to believe that the function will be held at the ground to allow everyone in.

She also said throughout the whole day on Sunday, the Leagues club will be open to members + 1 guest until capacity, when only members will be allowed in.

I'll be heading up tomorrow to sign up just to be safe, but if she tells me the stadium will be open...surely that means the function will be held there?

Yeah I'm trying to decide which is the best transport option too.

Driving up from Canberra with my 7yo son and staying a motel nearish to the Leagues club. Don't mind getting to ANZ early and paying for parking, but I imagine the trip back and finding a park would be painful.

A bus to/from the Leagues club sounds a lot better than multiple buses/trains.

I am hopefull of getting a early one out, or just have to train it out.

Gerting back to the club ASAP is the key, and the bus would be the best option.

Spoke to a girl from the Footy Club, who said they were still in the process of organising where buses will leave from. I asked if they would be doing one from the club as usual and she indicated that they probably would not (!?!?) but that they will leave from the local area. She too suggested that I call back tomorrow.

From experience the club ends up being a free for all at any rate, but alas it is a shadow of its former self and I don't see where they could fit us all.

Thinking Jubilee though.

Who are we kidding, the whole area will be jammed, they should just arrange road blocks and detours now.

mate i'm sure the bus from the stadium to miranda, stops at kogarah station, could be an option.

I would assume so either Kogarah or Hurstville (it stopped at hurstville for the direct bus to the Premlinarly final).
The reason they have direct buses from Miranda is because shire kids are not aware of suburbs other than Cronulla, Engadine, Miranda, Gymea, Carignbah, Kirrawee etc. So this simplifies and makes it easier for them I am guessing.
