not because my team lost but because of the debacle that Rugby League has become. I seriously have my doubts about the authenticity of anyone who is running this once great game of ours.

Some of the decisions today were bordering on ridiculous. Did the Dragons actually score a legitimate try today? From what I saw

First try Morris obviously out
Second try Dean Young never gets up to play the ball correctly
Third try push on Sam Perrett not penalised
Fourth try is a knock on any day of the week
last try Hornby standing beside the guy playing the ball is surely offside

1 penalty for the whole game??

Add to that us having a try disallowed for a forward pass that wasnt and having two clear penalties not given that would have led to penalty goal shots. Should have been 16-0 chooks at half time.

And to those who say the Roosters first try wasnt a try well it actually should have been a penalty try because it is illegal to prevent a try being scored with your feet

I am disillusioned with the NRL now. Something is not right

Roosters had the dragons on ice first half - didn't take advantage

Suspect calls went both way and if the roosters won your thread doesn't get made..

*hugs*

It's strongly arguable that the Roosters wouldn't have made it past week 1 of the finals if the referees had have ordered that the final scrum be packed again in accordance with the rules.

I don't want to detract from Saints win as they have been by far the best team all year and deserve the premiership.

The referees didn't deserve any medals as they didn't actually do any refereeing. If anything Robert Finch just seriously needs to go away. We need someone in charge who can create consistent refereeing regardless of the referees officiating, regardless of the importance of the game, and regardless of the stage of the game.

that's not necessarily true. A few threads were made two months ago after what was perceived to be a plethora of decisions that went against us when we vs'd the Dogs. We still got blasted for being "sore winners".etc

Nevertheless, the better team won..

It was clearly a square up on the non-penalty for illegal tackle on JWH. Get over it.

Gordon Tallis made a comment that before the ref-microphones, referees had a good rapport with players by acknowledging errors and telling the captains to expect a square up. Now they have to be subtle about it or not do it at all for fear of retribution by one-eyed people like yourself.

The better side one. The first Roosters try was as dubious as any scored today.

The legitimacy of the Roosters' first try was a matter of interpretation. The Dragons' first try, on the other hand, was tainted by a blatantly incorrect decision and will go down as one of the biggest refereeing blunders in grand final history. In my opinion it is as egregious as the two 7th tackle tries by Manly in 1978 and Canterbury in 1995.

Hahaha some one is testy.

I was merely noting that all teams cop favourable/ unfavourable decisions.

Anyway, the Roosters can hardly eschew blame for their loss, they had ample field position in the first half but their attack was impotent and in the second half their handling was atrocious.

Calls went both ways, get over it.

Your player planted the ball on Sowards knee. Not his feet.

well soward didn't attack the ball with his feet, that's why a penalty wasn't given... video ref somehow thought he played at it, it's pretty clear the ball was planted on his leg however, that's been a knock on for as long as I can remember.

you watch it at normal speed again, if anything soward was trying to get under the player to hold him up.

I saw it as a square up.

Regardless of what happened tonight, it is clear that rules are being interpreted differently depending on the referee, the importance of the game, and the stage of the game. None more evident than the Tigers vs Bunnies game where Farrah didn't receive a penalty for blatant offside in extra time, and Souths winning the game with a blatant forward pass.

Finch seriously needs to be replaced by someone who can implement a consistent interpretation of the rules. And whilst they are at it they should piss off that arrogant dickhead Harrigan.
