Wayne Bennett to finish up at St George

I just don't see him going there. It'll either be a Sydney team with cash, Brisbane, or Newcastle as an outside shot.

You are making a big deal about money, but i doubt that will be a big factor in the decision. Bennett would have been on good coin throughout his entire coaching career, he'd be a multi-millionaire already.

Nth Qld makes more sense in my opinion than Souths. Its close to his family, its a bloody good challenge and a roster than he can easily mold. Tallis being at Souths just makes me think WB wont go near the joint.

Anyway its all speculation right?

Can't see Bennett going to Souths. He only seems to go to the big clubs. Souths are pretenders.

He hated paying 400 for gaz, why would he go to a club where their whole roster is being paid overs?

If he were to leave, I think he would be best at the Cowboys, Sharks or Newcastle. Those three clubs need a bit of direction which is right up Bennett's alley. They have been perennial underachievers for a long time now, and I think Bennett could turn them around. Whether he or they are interested is another matter entirely.

If Wayne leaves then that is his choice, whether that be to coach another club or retire, he has my best wishes and I imagine all fans of Saints.

He can do what we wants, maybe the lure of getting a title with a 3rd club appeals to him, can't say I blame him on that one, if he could jag that then it would simply add more underlining to the "best ever" stamp currently on his resume.
Family is above and beyond business, and if he wants to be closer to them so be it.
When the time comes, he will make the decision.

Wayne owes St George nothing. He delivered us our Premiership.

Best of luck, Wayne, in whatever you decide to do...
Absolutely correct.

The speculation about Bennett past 2011 has been going for months now. And each time it gets greeted by some like it's a fresh piece of gossip. Obviously people like a good rumour, and the media are happy to feed it.

Btw, what happened to the rumour that he would be leaving Saints at the end of 2010?

Bennett's next move is a decision for Bennett to make. It happens when it happens.

Why speak when you're ignorant? Who said I haven't got faith in our current coach. The thing is, he's already decided to retire at the end of the year. That's been a well known fact for a long time.

You'll notice I think Souths will win the premiership this year. So I certainly am confident in my players and my coach.

That's why we've been linked to Bennett. We have a coaching vacancy after this season, he is off contract after this season...

If you're so confident Souths will be the 2011 premiers, why would you think Bennett would coach them in 2012. Are you really that dumb?

I'm not saying money is his priority, but it could be a handy tiebreaker if he's tossing up between a couple of clubs.

I've heard a few people say this. When the time comes and Crowe meets Bennett to try and get him to Souths do you really think the conversation will go something like:
Bennett: "mate I'd love to come and coach Souths to their 22nd premiership, and at the same time winning a premiership with a 3rd club, an acheivement unlikely to ever be beaten, but the thing is I really really really dislike Gordon Tallis, so I'm going to have to say No."
Crowe: "fair enough mate, see ya later, and on your way out can you tell my secretary to get Bellamy and Sheens on the phone"

I'm pretty sure if Bennett tells Crowe that Tallis being there is a deal breaker, Tallis would be sacked within the hour.

Because we'll have a coaching vacancy after this year and Bennett will be off contract after this year and he's the best coach in the world?

And if you mean us winning this year would make Bennett rule us out, that's BS. In the salary cap era it's virtually unheard of to win back to back premierships. Bennett would have a huge challenge, if we were reigning premiers and he coached us to a 2nd straight premiership, that's a big acheivement in this era.

What a warm and supportive club he'd be moving into.
A head coach usually has a lot of power to decide his staff, assistant coaches etc etc. With every club in the NRL.

And every club in the NRL, with the exception of those with established coaches like the Tigers and Storm, would have no problem sacking one assistant coach to get Wayne Bennett to join their team.

It's just easy to see why so many people now see Souths as nothing more than a soulless, money and fame obsessed franchise. I know that most clubs would do that, but that isn't the type of club that will attract Bennett. I could much easier see him going to a club like the Cowboys, who although may not have much cash, or be good on field, at least they still have some pride and tradition left in the club.

If the Bunnies are fair dinkum about getting Bennett, then they're going to have to stop this from becoming a media circus, because Bennett wont stand for that. And, to be perfectly honest, with Rusty, Mundine, and Inglis involved, I can't see them doing that. That club swarms to the spotlight like a moth attacks a flame.

The Dragons attracted him. He got to decide who stayed and who had to go in his staff when he agreed to join there.

As for this story about the Dragons and Bennett. That isn't our fault. Either someone in the Dragons, or more likely Bennett's circle, let this out.

And Bennett isn't stupid. He knows this will be one of the biggest stories of the year. The only thing that will stop the rumours and speculation is him publicly announcing his decision. And by the sounds of it that won't happen for quite a while.

We'll know his future before seasons start

Can you just stop.
He will not go to Souths.
Bennett made it clear he was always a fan of the Dragons when he was younger and always wanted to coach them. He got his chance and he took it.
He will not go to Souths.
And with regards to Townsville, and the comments you made. Most people know Bennett likes his privacy, and living in Townsville with his family (outside of Townsville) would give him that privacy.

I hope that's true. Whatever decision he does make I just don't want it to be drawn out over months and months, Inglis style.

Can you stop? Don't speak about him like as if you know him. At least I'm talking in hypotheticals, you speak like you're the blokes best friend.

He's lived in Sydney the last 2 years and it doesn't seem to have hurt his privacy...

Why do people reply to BMs posts?
He obviously has no idea on what's going on.
What's your problem? thommo4pm speaks like he knows exactly what is going on in Bennett's head and you have a go at me? I'm just speaking about hypotheticals, speculating (like everyone else has) and using some common sense.
