This thread has turned into comedy capers. Some of the recent points go beyond funny and straight to crazy/ridiculous.

1. We have Loudstrat spouting his usual anti-anything-queensland garbage.
2. Then we have Souths supporters spouting how Bennett is over the line going to them and what a great side they have.
3. Some neutrals and Dragons fans lauding the Dragons team of 2008, and insinuating their premiership team of last year is top shelf.

Hello ! Hello ! Is there anything at all in your vacuous heads of yours ?

Lets get a few things straight.

1. Souths fans, you may well get your man ... but you will pay for it. In the mean time how bout your great team make the finals and actually do something ON the field. There are 2 reasons WB would go to Souths. His passion for historical clubs succeeding for the betterment of the game, and for a truckload of Rusty's cash.

2. The Dragons were a rabble in 2008. We have a top 8 ! We reward mediocrity in our sport. They were crap then and now having matured and learnt some basic principles are still crap, yet disciplined enough and enthusiastic enough to beat a bunch of no hoper teams levelled by the salary cap. The Dragons have the best coach in a very even/poor era. The premiership side of last year (having beat all before them and justified winners) wouldn't come within 1000 miles of some of the winning sides of the last decade, let alone through the 90's.

3. Give Wayne some credit. We have no idea who is the best coach, and never will. Generation gap, compare eras. Doesn't work, you know it and to say otherwise is sheer folly. Just like everything else that comes out of Loudstrats trap. When Wayne was at Brisbane, always had champ sides. Now he wins a comp and a minor premiership with a rabble and he is still crap. Hahaha.

4. Don't rule out the possibility that he will come home to the Broncos or even coach the Cowboys. Queensland is where its at, and Wayne knows it. And wouldn't that be great Loudstrat.

Merritt at $300k? :lol: Please, I'd hope not for Souths sake. Wesser would be in the $150-200k range. Though Merritt if he is anywhere near that amount is being paid well and truly over what I would perceive his market value in the NRL, perhaps not so in the Super League.

I've heard from someone close to the Knights that Tinkler and the Knights realised that Bennett-Souths is a done deal when they first tried to approach Wayne. They are looking elsewhere or sticking with their current coach.

I can't get to more than a handful of games a year considering I live 500kms away. When I move back to Sydney I'll be going to every single Souths home game, and many of their away games that are in Sydney.

Man you have just confirmed you're delusional. I love Darius but he is not yet in Slaters or even Haynes league. Beating you guys up doesn't count. And I wouldn't count on being able to afford him. Souths are already at their cap if not over after signing Inglis. Besides why would Boyd want to throw his career away by joining Bennett in the doomed from the start crusade to get the Bunnies to the semis. If Bennett needs the challenge of making Souths competitve, good on him. But it would more than likely be a cash grab job as he knows there is no hope.

They're certainly not the worst in the comp, but yes Cronk is better than Sandow. I was not comparing position to position but big 4 to big 4.

Luke/Burgess/Inglis/Boyd will be a better (and younger) big 4 than Melbourne's.

That's like me saying I guarantee that Bruce Gordon, (billionaire owner of WIN - 25% stakeholder in STGI) is secretly putting together a 2 million a season offer for Wayne Bennett, to secure his services till the day Bennett retires for good. How do I know? Because I know someone who works at WIN. But my statement, just like yours means f**k all.

Bennett and Boyd may end up at Souths. But it won't have anything to do with a guarantee from a Coffs Harbour uni student making a 50/50 bet on a two option outcome. Make a statement, present it as fact, crow about it if proved true and just hide from scrutiny and ridicule is proved false.

As mentioned in other posts, you would be hard pressed to sign Boyd under the cap. Just cause Rusty has money to spend,doesn't mean you can fit Boyd under the cap just because you want him.

I don't think Rustys money is going to be the deciding factor. EVERY offer that Bennett gets is going to be for big money.
Interest point I think will be the WCC. If we get the choccies there, that will mean that under St Waynes tenure would hold the Premiership Trophy, JJ Giltinan Trophy for the Minor Premiership, Charity Shield and WCC trophy simultaneously. I think that would be all the Trophies/Shields that are available to a club. I'm sure Wigan will be out to stop that, but a couple of weeks out it remains a possibility.

Whether he thinks that is a big enough achievement to consider moving on is up to him.
