Souths buying policy could destroy this season

For me Souths lost the plot during the off-season. They got caught up with the signing of Inglis. Forgetting that it takes more then one player to make a team and that you need depth. Crowe, Richardson and Lang got so caught up the the signing of GI they didn't notice we had problems at prop.

Our prop rotation for tonights game was Asotasi (29), Stuart (34), Geddes (30) and Ross (30). All are injury prone and one, Ross hasn't played for two years. How much chance did we have of that lot not missing a lot of games.

Well folkes we lost of them tonight. After not even a full game we have lost Geddes with a posiible Achilles Tendon injury.

Doesn't leave us with a whole lot of depth does it? How long will it be before we lose one of the others.

The club has failed us badly with its buying policy this season. All because they got caught up in the Inglis hype.

We do have the cattle to win. It's the execution where we fail, yet another pathetic attempt by so called professionals who are disgracing a once proud jersey

I think guys like Price, Webcke, and Petero dispell the myth that a prop can't do anything over 30.

Did you expect Richo to look into his crystal ball and see us having that many injuries? None of us could've forseen 3 game-ending forwards injuries in the 1st half.

What a silly thread.

Burgess and Taylor can (and probably should) play front-row.

They're a big part of why your defence is so poor. Great runners out wide but just too f**king big to be effective defenders on the finge.

Our Front Row isn't the only position where we lack the back up to see us through the season.
Bad start tonight as far as injuries go & we will be stretched for replacements.

Our buying policy is not the problem, John Lang is.
We have the players to beat any team in the comp, we lack structure and a game plan.
Our lack of structure with the ball is the main reason we make alot of mistakes, especially inside the oppositions 20. It also doesn't help sutton and sandows game, its impossible for them to play off the top of thier heads and perform for 80 minutes every week.

The club should go all out to see how fast McGuire can get on a plane from England because John Lang doesn't have whats needed to make souths play as a team.

I heard Langy on the BSB yeaterday saying he is not big on tactics and thinks its telegraphing your punches if you attack the same part of the defencive line you have identified as weak, this takes away opportunities attacking other areas of the field. He is also not big on video and studying other teams.

Hearing this is enough to suggest John has not moved with the times and nearly made me jump out of a moving car.

John Lang is Richo's mate so his job's safe for as long as he wants it.
That's the new South Sydney - Welcome to the Boy's Club.

The problem is you have perennial cripples in Crocker, Geddes and Ross and you have the nerve to think you have depth because you have 3 forwards on the sidelines 90% of the time, along with injuries to Burgess, Lowe which shows you have a poor recovery/training program and force players back too early. Injuries to your team are not bad luck.

Souths biggest problem is they have spent all their money on the engine, tyres and suspension and forgot about the steering......

Souths biggest problem is we've had 39 years to develop a "loser psyche" and with every passing year it becomes harder to break.

No depth, dud coach. For whatever Inglis cost you could have kept Champion and bought a solid young front rower (or two?).

This, and Tallis as our defensive coach. I just don't see our defence improving at all under him.

It can't be coincidence that we have gotten WORSE under Lang. If you just watch the ruck on Friday, they all bunch up, they don't even hold a straight line. This is basic stuff. Everybody is trying to be the one man to win the game.

We were playing our best last year early on when we probably still had some of Jason Taylor's structures embedded in the playing style. It seems like that is nearly all gone now and it's just messy football.

We bought George Burgess and had Ross coming in for his first year. Burgess is a bit rough but he'll be a talent, I expect he'll move up to NRL quickly with five forwards now out.

South's biggest problem is threir dirty little halfback. In attack he throws ill directed passes to no-one, posesses speed, big forwards find him hard to grab hold of, I wont even go ininto his well documented defensive short comings. The referees just refuse to penalise the nasty little twerp . he has a long history of aggressively diving onto prostate, grounded players aiming to hurt them well after the player was alreay tackled, on regaining his feet the tackled player is niggled by Sandow, scuffle ensues, players rush in to protect their halfback, one day someone will be sent from the field, I just hope it will be Sandow. He was doing this under Taylor and continues to do it with Lang.

George Burgess is along way off being a first grader
Seems like trial by fire is in order then. I doubt he's going to get the skills of a first grader in NYC anyway

Edit: Sammy first showed on the international scene (where he dropped Moi Moi) at age 19, which is George's age now. I don't think he is too young, he just needs to get out there and get the experience
