Depth to be tested.

So,

Ellis, Gibbs, Fulton, Ryan and now Lawrence and Tuqiri are out.

Thank God we have Geoff Daniela and Mitch Brown.

With the Shirnack boys and Woods filling in well for Ellis, Gibbs and Fulton, plus Matt Utai improving every week, we have been very lucky.

Now the real test of depth begins.

I think Moltzen will return soon to pre-injury form which will be a huge bonus.

Will be good to see Mitch Brown and Geoff Daniella back.

Our forwards depth is awesome this year. Murdoch Masalia whatever his name is should come in soon shouldn't he?

Sadly I didn't see the game just the aftermath of the injuries. I noticed though at one point we were up by 20 or so points, so can any one tell me why we started leaking points so badly at the end of the game?

Was it the replacements for Lote and Chris Lawrence not tackling well or the confusion created by having them off the field? Maybe the Raiders started to do something right and we totally switched off.

I think for and against will be vital this years so I would have liked to have seen the Raiders really put to the sword.

Any comments about this? Thanks...

It was more just a complete lack of focus in the last 10 mins. Lawrence looked in complete agony when he went off, so that would've been playing on the boys minds. The scoreline ended up being pretty flattering to the Raiders TBH.

Any chance of an outside back from U/20s being promoted?
I liked the look of Tim Simona against the bulldogs.

I think the Schirnack brothers will miss out when Gibbs and Ellis return and that's fair enough, we now know that the brothers can stand in when needed.

As for the replacements, Daniella was playing centre and Brown on the wing in 1st 2 rounds of NSW Cup - hopefully they will slot in easily !!! but, what I don't understand is why coach Sheens moves Ayshford into the back row just to give Moltzan a run, surely what you'd want is Ayshford and Utai building a partnership like on the other side of the field - slotting Moltzen in there does not help. Give him a run at fullback for sure but in the centre?

Maybe now Benji will just use the Utai side for a while, while Daniella and Brown settle in.

Will be interesting to see if Sheens try to change our playing style a little. Our left edge was all about power and speed that feed off Marshall's passing game. Daniella,Brown and Moltzen dont smash through the gate they tend to try and run around it. I think for next couple of weeks Sheens will adopt a far more conservative game plan concentrating more on the forwards and attack more around the fringes

With the form Marshall is in, who ever gets the gig on the left edge will get plenty of chances.

Dwyer is sh*t with a expression of a confused genius and guaranteed one or two easy dropped balls a game and a few penalties, piss poor workrate

^ I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks he isn't pulling his weight. His work-rate is piss-poor and as I've been saying, he deadset has hands like feet. Saw a players bio in some rag the other week where he said his goal was to cement a starting FG spot - he's got a long way to go.

Obviously covering for Lawreance and Lote is huge. At least Daniella and Brown have played enough first grade (and with this side) to fill in OK.

They may not have the power and skills of the other two but at least they have speed and the way Benji is putting guys through gaps, all they need to do is run at the gap and Benji will lay on the pass.

That is the theory anyway!!!

As for Dwyer, before the comp started I was full of praise for him and really though we had a future representitive player...not so sure now. Really hope he can lift.

If he can't maybe at best he is just a bench player and if that is the case Blair looks more appealling all the time (back row/lock). Has there been any more said on the subject of Blair?

How about one of the faster 2nd rowers (Dwyer?) to centre & Moltzen on the wing?? Though I do hope Brown gets a gig soon

Dwyers lateral shift is rubbish. He gets found arm grabbing in the second row. At centre he would be a disaster

As soon as Lote went off we had no natural winger to cover Ferguson, Wade and Ayshford were both shuffled to the wing, Then when Lawrence went down, Timmy played centre and Ferguson had a field day-

If Lote and Rowdy were still on we would have stopped most of the Raiders late tries...

Id love to know the value of our salary cap sitting on the sideline over the next few weeks.
