Great game tonight (tougher and faster than the test IMO), won't ruin result for anyone, but Sowie went off in 60th minute, had ice on his groin and hand, didn't appear that serious and he wasn't in massive distress, if anyone finds out an update could they please post.

Up till then he was having a pretty good game.

Cheers.

He just spoke with Joey post game and Sowie's gut feeling was he tore the groin muscle. But is hoping it is only a strain. Will know when he gets checked over in the sheds. Fingers crossed for him.

Thanks for the update.

Pity it wasn't better news but.

Let's hope he is ok and is only out this week.

Daley just spoke about Soward in the press conference, said he didn't really know how bad it was, but that Jamie was walking around on it after the game and said it was still sore... so still in the dark about how serious... won't know probably for a days or two, but i'd be shocked if he fronts up for the Cowboys...

Stanley to 5/8, Flo to fullback, Tagive to wing?

Unlucky for jamie, heard he was having a good game too

Could it be a blessing in disguise? If he's out for a week or two then we have a bye could he be overlooked for Origin? Sad for Jamie but good for us.

I would probably go for Goodwin at the back, leave Flo where he is and Stanley moves to 5/8th. Until Boyd returns Goodwin can play FB well enough. But this is going to test our depth, no question.

If so, how stupid is this City v Country 'trial'?

NSW's best five eighth is forced to prove himself on a paddock in Albury and he gets injured, thus robbing his club and state of a playmaker.

Just got this from the wire service... looks to be a twinge not a tear.. good news...

Soward is also likely to need an x-ray on a swollen thumb, which he hurt at the same time he felt his groin go.
"I spoke to the physio, she said at the moment it's not torn, it just looks like a twinge," Soward said of the leg injury.
On his thumb, he added: "She doesn't think it's broken so the Dragons will probably X-ray it.
"I could miss Sunday or miss a couple of weeks, just wait and see."

I may be wrong here but I think he was carrying that groin injury for a few minutes in that game and that little reverse kick under the posts finished him off.

No Boyd, no Soward. It will be interesting to see how the team adapts.

Wouldn't be surprised to see nighty rested Sunday, carrying a few niggles and that tackle didnt help. Plus a short week with the Dogs game on Friday I'll be happy with 1 win out of the next 2. Poor scheduling NRL

Qld must be p*ssing themselves.

Here we are, playing NSW vs NSW a couple of weeks before Origin, while their players sit back and watch.

What a waste of time, such an old fashioned concept.

Bit more info: http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/injury-takes-shine-from-sowards-origin-audition-20110506-1echr.html

But after being at the heart of most of Country's attack in the torrid affair at Lavington Sports Ground in Albury, Soward was forced from the field with the injuries sustained in a 45th-minute break that was prevented from being a try only by a desperate Jarryd Hayne tackle.

''After that break I landed on my thumb and just felt my groin go a bit,'' Soward said. ''I've spoken to the physio and it doesn't look like it is torn or anything, it is just a twinge. I have got some good power there and I will stay up all night tonight to ice it and when I get back I will have a look at my thumb. It is pretty swollen but she doesn't think it is broken. I could miss Sunday or I could miss a couple of weeks, we will see.''

It's a f**king joke at best and should be scraped. I can't believe selectors, who will see 10 rounds of footy before origin 1, need another "rep' game to be "sure" who should and shouldn't be picked. I'm not a Drags supporter but feel for the club if Soward is injured. I thought he was a shoe in for origin before last nights game.

why would the NRL schedule a usually heavily represented sydney club to play against the cowboys a few days after the useless City Country game. This is the second time Saints have copped this in the last couple of years.
