Hayne our best in the last four seasons?

Are you kidding? He is a defensive liability and has been horrible this year.

I'm pretty happy with the NSW side.

You're a nuff nuff buddy he was the NSW player of the series in 08 and 09 from the wing!!! which player has ever done that in the NRL let alone the state of origin...

He was overlooked for Brett Morris, which is even more ridiculous

Actually, after listening to all the interviews with Ricky, he has been saying he thinks five eighth is Hayne's best position, and they were considering him for the 6 jersey, but couldn't take it away from Soward as Soward plays in that jersey every week.

I see Dugan's selection as a long term selection.

Ricky isn't just thinking of this series but 2012, 13 and 14 as well.

So Hayne at 23 is past it?? He is 1 of a handful of blues to carve up in origin. He has played on the wing & well so to not even be on the wing is poor.

Hayne's last 2 games he has been close to motm in losing teams. It's a disgrace he isn't there. I hate Hatne but he is the better option.

Face facts - he doen't play for canberra, he doesn't play for the chooks and he has never played for the sharkies, he never stood a chance.

It's like NSW want to lose.

Don't mind the Dugan selection- he's one for the future. But Hayne should be on the wing (at least) ahead of either Morris or Uate. Morris is a rep myth and Uate played like cake today.

Jennings. LOL

Farah > Ennis in 2011

Also, I understand that the Dragons are the best team in the competition. But Merrin, Creagh and Young just should not be there, and Scott is only really there to be Soward's minder.

What sort of cake?

Merrin, Creagh and Young are deserved. Although I would have had Lewis over Young by a nose.

I would have liked to have seen this:

1. Jarred Hayne - Parramatta Eels
2. Brett Morris - St George Illawarra Dragons
3. Mark Gasnier - St George Illawarra Dragons
4. Josh Morris - Merkinbury Dogs
5. Akuila Uate - Newcastle Knights
6. Jamie Soward - St George Illawarra Dragons
7. Mitchell Pearce - Sydney Roosters
8. Dan Hunt - St George Illawarra Dragons
9. Robbie Farah - Wests Tigers
10. Kade Snowden - Cronulla Sharks
11. Beau Scott - St George Illawarra Dragons
12. Greg Bird - Gold Coast Titans
13. Paul Gallen (c) - Cronulla Sharks

14. Ben Creagh - St George Illawarra Dragons
15. Trent Merrin - St George Illawarra Dragons
16. Tim Mannah - Parramatta Eels
17. Luke Lewis - Penrith Panters

I think King is probably a bit lucky but he has been going well this year. I think he has been selected as he is an aggressive bastard. He should rip in.

I can see where Ricky is going with his forwards - a couple of 110kg+ starting props and a couple of more mobile / working props off the bench. 3 tough, no nonsense starting back rowers, 2 of which are ballplayers. 1 big, mobile backrower off the bench and 1 utility forward / hooker. Still I think there are 2-3 better props than King.

Agreed. Good post.

Oh boy Matt Scott is going to have some fun with Jason King.

King's family better start praying.

Yep, and he doesn't seem to have a problem with Mannah either.

I would like to see Mannah square the ledger with Scott in game 1 though.

Scott is easily number one prop at the moment.

I find it amazing how full circle this interstate comp has become.

the only way to help NSW out is to remove the origin concept and adopt the old format, of playing for the state you currently play in.

That would hurt QLD'rs with Melbourne being excluded I presume.

I think the NSW selectors would still f**k things up somehow.........

I think the NSW supporters should get behind this team. It has been selected and will take on QLD in game 1 so lets get behind these players. I know there not the ideal 17 but bag the selectors not the players. QLD would not treat there players with such contempt, every year NSW supporters bag the hell out of one player at least whether that be Gidley,Ennis or King. Lets not fight each other over who should play wing fullback or centre but lets unite in our hatred of QLD because isn't that what this is all really about.

I don't agree with King's selection but he is a merkin, and you need a merkin or two in the team at Origin level.

This makes 2 rep teams that Dugan has been favoured over Hayne for this year... and this time Parra fans can't falsely point to Flopmarsh as the reason

To be honest the past 12 months Dugan has been pretty much one of the top 3 Fullbacks in the comp he deserves his go Hayne last season was pretty horrid but hat was pretty much the whole Eels team this year he is one of the best again even with the Eels going so bad..

Honestly..Mannah??..hes hardly sighted!!and gets owned soo many times...bird and gallen are made for it..pearce has done nothing special...why not Sandow??...soward is a good choice tho

maybe the whole concept of origin is at the point where we can loan you all the players we wont be needing, we have lots of worthy backrowers and halfbacks we just dont need to win 6 series in a row

Maybe not even that far back.
How about we pick a few players who represent other countries because if we don''t "Origin will die" or whatever the bullshit excuse it was that Qld used to pull picking Kiwis in their teams.

Stuart wrote an article before Origin 3 last year saying Pearce was the long term captain, he will not drop him. Mullen was only ever a chance for the 5/8 role plus Pearce outplayed him in City vs Country. Now we have chosen a spine we must retain it for a whole series.
Pearce had more try assists than Mullen, he did not outplay him.

Mullen had the better kicking game, his last tackle options were superior and he can actually direct a team around the field, he shows this every week, showed it in City V Country. Pearce has no imagination and a very poor kicking game, he has shown this week in and out for the Roosters and even in City Country where he had his best game of the season shit last tackle options and awful kicks in play were still his go.

Pearce is a myth, he is a decent first grader and that's it, if he is the next NSW captain we are well and truly f**ked. As Rooster's fan I get to see how flawed Pearce's game is week in and week out, he is not captain material, he is not rep material.

The selectors got it wrong. When NSW were a great team it didn't matter if they made changes during the series, they still won.

If Hayne, Lewis and Farah were QLDer's they would be some of the first picked. The QLD set up rewards loyalty and past performance, something the NSW selectors have no idea about.

All this talk about Dugan being a better fullback than Hayne is farsical. Dugan should be there but on the wing for Morris who has done nothing, EVER in SOO.

Stuart as coach is a myth. Arogant, egotistical and has shown absolutely nothing. Had the best roster in the comp at the Roosters for 5 years and won 1 GF. The went to the Sharks and turned them into th most boring team in the comp.

QLD will be $1.01 head to head with the bookies
