i agree farah should be there but lets get real, Hayne and Lewis wouldnt make their side either

Stuart as coach is a myth. Arogant, egotistical and has shown absolutely nothing. Had the best roster in the comp at the Roosters for 5 years and won 1 GF. The went to the Sharks and turned them into th most boring team in the comp.
Spot on there. Ricky Stuart relies on players like Fittler and Johns without superstars he's just not good enough.

Hayne should be on the wing, he's played plenty of wing for Parra, NSW and Australia over the years. Still can't believe you would leave easily the best attacking player in NSW out of the team.

A team with Dugan, Hayne, Bird, Gallen.. that's a great base right there. but why would you leave out one of the best players.

I'm actually a little bit disappointed.

Well interesting origin side.
I can understand most of the selections. I do think there is an element of sticking solid with this team. There are 9 players from game 3 last year.
1. Dugan over Hayne, it was a 50-50 call they offer different things. I am an eels supporter and I can see why they went with Dugan.
2. Morris and 5. Uate .Once Gordon was out these two were a shoe in.
3. Gasnier, once again always going to get picked.
4. Jennings, a suprise, clearly I thought after playing left centre for australia idris would get the nod. Jennings first good game was city-country this year. But he is the incumbant and has hit form at the right time. Still a surpise. Just glad they didn't pick Josh Morris he was terrible in city country.
6. Soward and 7. Pearce. No real suprise, I am a big mullen fan it was always going to be between these 3. The dragonc connection helps.
8. King, big shock given the amount of props around in form. But once again incumbant. I actually thought he went okay last year in game 3.
9. Ennis, well no real shock. Only my personal opinion is he is the most overated player in the game. Some people mix up annoying with being tough. He misses more tackles in the middle than just about any hooker around. There is a reason why Dean young is in the side.
10. Snowden, no great shock.
11. Beau Scott some suprise, but has been playing well, dragons combo, plus covers centres. With Lewis out much of year, not too many other established right side players. Given I would have picked Dwyer tells the story.
12. Bird, he was great last year and has been good when he has played origin. No real dramas.
13. Gallen a shoe in.

14. Creagh, look he has not played great at origin level yet, but is a stand out at nrl. Give him another shot.
15. Merrin, I have not seen enough to see why he gets a spot ahead of Weyman, Hunt, Tolmen, Galloway etc. But I think they see him as the future.
16. Tim Mannah, straight forward, he just makes heaps of yards. Pushes through the advantage line constantly, I have never seen a guy who so often hits a brick wall then manages to move the brick wall another few metres. And as someone said the fastest play the ball in the west, he adds plenty.
17. Young, no gidley, no gordon, probably logical.

So once again Idris was the great shock for me, perhaps a little suprised by Merrin and King. And personally I don't rate Ennis.
But for all the hullabaloo, no real shocks outside of Idris. The props were always going to be controversial as so many to choose from.

Lewis i might give you... he'd be their lock i guess
but Hayne unless played on the wing, wouldnt play... the reason we've decided not to play him is because he can be a liability defensively out there
i like his upside more than his apparent issues in defense and to me, he can turn a game on its head from the wing and has done so at this level befor, you've got Dugan, Hayne and Uate... who are you going to kick too?

Morris is a SOO pretender

Theoretically if Hayne and Lewis were Qlders Hayne would've been on the wing before Boyd and never dropped.

Lewis would definitely be worth a shot off the bench.

Pearce had more try assists than Mullen, he did not outplay him.

Mullen had the better kicking game, his last tackle options were superior and he can actually direct a team around the field, he shows this every week, showed it in City V Country. Pearce has no imagination and a very poor kicking game, he has shown this week in and out for the Roosters and even in City Country where he had his best game of the season shit last tackle options and awful kicks in play were still his go.

Pearce is a myth, he is a decent first grader and that's it, if he is the next NSW captain we are well and truly f**ked. As Rooster's fan I get to see how flawed Pearce's game is week in and week out, he is not captain material, he is not rep material.

The selectors got it wrong. When NSW were a great team it didn't matter if they made changes during the series, they still won.

Yea Mullen does have a better kicking game but i think to throw him back in their now would be a mistake. While Pearce is a good defensive half and can support Soward through this series and then next year hopefully Mullen will be ready to take the 7 jumper. As a Knights fan I have seen Mullen struggle under pressure time and time again, to throw him and Soward in their together would be a massive mistake. Mullen is finally starting to back himself this year and play to his potential give Wayne Bennett some time with him and NSW will have their answer to the halfback problem.

He did actually play quite well last year.
Jason King of maybe 4 years ago is not the same King of today.
He is a pretty tough old head now and is a big f*cker which is obviously what Stuart has gone for.
Agree 100% he's a shock selection but I'm also equally sure he won't let them down.
If Jason King was NSW biggest issue we'd be laughing.

Hayne is the reason why they are a man short in the first place, so of course it is his fault, nobody made Hayne act like an idiot and headbutt. What if that happens in the 70th minute in origin and we go without our fullback with the game on the line? Hayne is an immense talent but unless he gets that rubbish out of his game he will have ??? over him.

2 of Dugans last 3 games have been pretty good. The City Country he was good without being spectacular, and against the Storm he was one of the Raiders better players despite a couple of poor attempted tackles.

Having said all that I still feel Hayne could justifiably be disappointed but don't even pretend to think Hayne is even close to Dugan in terms of defensive positioning or under the high ball, because its a non event.

Hayne has a better kicking game, better passing game and he is stronger but Dugan is in the right spot at the right time more often than not. Dugan is not in the team to kick, Soward is the best general kicker in the game and Pearce is not too bad either.

12 on 12, 11 on 11, wtf were they short on? What if it happens in Origin? Well he's played 9, how about we judge off that how his attitude translates to the field in origin, considering he's more often than not been our best it seems pretty f**king self explanatory.

So if Hayne does everything better than Dugan except being in the right spot at the right time you'd like to think Dugan has atleast excelled at that in the last three full games he's played, except, he hasn't, quite the opposite in fact.

I will pretend to think Hayne is close to Dugan in terms of positioning, because whilst you all wank about with vagaries I can point to straight recent instances of Dugan being massively exposed.

Can't say I am happy with the announced side. I can't imagine Queensland not scoring at least 20 -24 points with their side, I would just like the NSW coach and selectors to point out the players we have to score the necessary points to win. Queensland will win game 1 by 20 plus (they might make it closer so we pick the same team of duds for game 2) and that bloody hurts to say as a long time NSW supporter.

Nonsense. Barring a couple of positions, 90% of people were in agreement that the side should be something like

1 Dugan
2 Hayne
3 Gasnier
4 ---
5 Uate
6 Soward
7 Pearce/Mullen
8 Snowden
9 Farah
10 TLL
11 Bird
12 Lewis
13 Gallen

14 Mannah
15 Tolman
16 ---
17 ---

Seriously, can anyone argue with any of the above? Just fill in the gaps and you have a potentially match winning side. But no, the incompetent f**kwits have actually taken our best players from the last 2 years and ditched them. Unf**kingbelievable.

this is pretty spot on.

i dont know why i expect different, must be an eternal optimist.

You use Hayne's ill discipline as an example of why he was left out, yet NSW have picked Ennis. Go figure. :sarcasm:

Agreed.

I've always been a big fan of Lewis, amazing versatility, great work ethic and he stays out of trouble.

Merrin has to be one of the most under rated players. Only dragon fans would know him but he has been nothing short of fantastic. Could someone put a list of front rower stats for this year with metres, runs and average metres per run. I am pretty sure he is up there for metres and workload - all I know is that he has made the most m for any Dragon forward which must say something. IMO watching Dragon games he has outshone Weyman (still recovering from injury) and Hunt easily this year.

And everyone saying Tolman should be there....you need to stop believing hype, and watch games for yourself. Yes, the guy is a workhorse, but rarely does he break the line or offload in any of those 20 odd hit ups he will do. Would be interested in seeing the stats ratio of metres gained per hitups between Tolman and Merrin.
