Ok So take off your Blues glasses. You are QLD on the 5th now you know Soward & Pearce are the only options to kick OR Hayne fb, Farah Hooker and the 1/2's add Lewis to that. They pressure the 1/2's Hayne or Farah kicks alot better then we have now

As it stands we have a very predictable team. Some more options would be nice

I'd love to have Farah there absolutely and Hayne too as I have said in other threads. I still think we will give it a hell of a shake. With a bit of luck Ennis will hurt himself sometime today/tomorrow..

LOL..........haven't looked at this thread since this morning and this is the first post I look at

So all you cockroaches are done with bagging out your team, the coach and the selectors and now it's time to give us QLD'rs a spray

Give yourselves an uppercut....

Do us all a favour and bugger off back to the Qld Team thread

I look forward to your vanishing act when the Blues take the series

You are a waste of forum space

There is some hope for NSW, QLD of 2011 are not in the same form of previous years.
Hayne's form and attitude have not warranted selection, a good 20 mins only against Cowboys is just not good enough. His ego has finally caught up with his actual ability and it shows in Parras standing on the ladder.
Idris is a defensive liability, cannot turn and chase and would have been targetted by Thurston and Smith.

However Qld have some blokes in ordinary form.
Inglis looks like he has swallowed a piglet, they will struggle to fit his gut into a jersey, and his form for Souths has been quite poor.
YowYeh is a first timer and can be targetted by high kicks and heavy tackles.
Petro and Ash Harrison in the pack are old and slow and are only there as incumbents, they can be run and bashed off their feet which then gives NSW the centre of the park where most Origin matches are won.
'I would take the NSW subs over the Qlders.

Love your optimism. I can see QLD stopping our attack. on the 4th and 5th run up belt Soward or Pearce. Hand over or a rubbish kick. You can grind out wins in the NRL mainly due to rubbish players/coaches. In Origin you need to match fire with fire especially with the attack and quality QLD have.

Merrin has to be one of the most under rated players. Only dragon fans would know him but he has been nothing short of fantastic. Could someone put a list of front rower stats for this year with metres, runs and average metres per run. I am pretty sure he is up there for metres and workload - all I know is that he has made the most m for any Dragon forward which must say something. IMO watching Dragon games he has outshone Weyman (still recovering from injury) and Hunt easily this year.

from the NRL website

player .....runs .......metres ........metre per .......off loads.... tackles..... Missed...... errors
Merrin ......142 ........1248 ............8.79 ..............12........... 252 ..........14 .............3
Tolman ....173 .........1343 ...........7.76 ...............5............ 337 ...........17............. 0
King.......... 81 ..........638............. 7.88............... 8........... 165 ............9.............. 2
TLL........... 80.......... 629 .............7.86 ...............5............ 164.......... 12 ..............3
Snowden.. 112........ 964.............. 8.61............ 10.............. 221........ 42.............. 5
Mannah.... 132........ 1020............. 7.73............. 1 ............. 222.......... 6............... 2

Plenty of ponts in that backline. The forwards do their job against that strong Qld pack and we are every chance

You do throw out some nice bait mate... :D

I try. :sarcasm:

The players picked in the side are all quality (except King and Ennis). The biggest issue isn't who was picked, but who missed out. Hopefully they give a good account of themselves, and it would be nice to see Hayne (among others) in for game 2.

No Luke Lewis, Jarryd Hayne or Anthony Watmough is f**king stupid. There's no reasons that can justify their non selections. 21 Origins between them - that's half of the entire team combined, and more than the whole backline.

Jason King is shit. He won't last the series. Just about every half decent front rower in New South Wales should feel hard done by.

This is f**king ridiculous. Every year we do this, and every year we get beat.

I just hope we sort our shit out before Game Two rather than before Game Three.

Why is everyone so surprised about Watmough missing out?

There were reports that he would be overlooked due to his disciplinary problems.

Plus he hasn't been in great form. But I would have found a backrow posi for Luke Lewis, even if he hasn't had much footy lately.

Predicted or not, it's still a bad omission imo.

I also never take anything I see in the Daily Telegraph too seriously.

Incidentally - who is going to cover if there are any injuries to 1,2,5,6 or 7? Apart from anything else, Dugan hasn't exactly proved to be Mr Indestructible. If he goes down, is it Morris to FB, Scott to the centres and Jennings to a wing? That's a scary proposition in Origin.
Hayne on the bench would of course have provided cover for 1,2,5 and 6...

Dudan looked to be playing injured in his shocker against Melbourne

He didn't look 100%.

You'd hope he wasn't, some efforts were lame.

I've seen some of Haynes work in defence look ordinary as well though, so what do you do?

I would hope that he wouldn't play at anything less than 100% for NSW.

I'm surpised at all the bitching about the NSW selection. Get behind the blues ffs. Every year there's always a few selections that make people go "huh" but at least Stuart (as much as I despise the bloke) is trying something different. I think this team might surprise a few of us.

**Edit**
If you don't like this team, f**k off and support QLD.

nicely said. most folks here appear to want the team to fail because the team selected doesnt resemble the one they would pick.

there are over 7m NSWmen, and all think they are the Origin coach. Only one bloke has ownership of the title and he alone will end up being considered a champ or a chump.

Stuart is the one with the authority to implement a strategy and Stuart is the one who picks the personnel he believes can best execute it. there is no doubt that the type of culture and values he wants to instil in the team plays an important role in selections too.

it not just a case of picking who we believe are the best 17 players in the state. they've got to fit into the overall gameplan, and provide balance to the side.

do i think hayne would make this NSW 17 better? f**k yeah. but im not the one who has to come up with a way bringing 17 blokes together for a week and a bit and making it work.

looking at the side, i can see what he's thinking re most of the selections, ex King. Word is Hayne was ommitted due to a poor attitude.

cant wait for One week at a time tonight for Ricky to explain it all.

Dugan 2011 will become Idris 2010.

Picked too early, dropped too early.
I have the same feeling. I hope it doesn't happen though.

He seems to be out of sorts with his head space. He looks really mopy and pessimistic.
