Really good player. Great fend, strong runner and very good defensively.

A centre come backrower but that will be determined by a full off season and see where his pace and body type sit.

Bellamy tried to get him to Melbourne but the lure of wanting to play for his childhood club was too much to resist until it became clear Sheens had zero interest in him this season

Definatley should have seen some NRL time. Far superior player to Beau Ryan, far superior centre to Tim Moltzen. I think the ideal 14 on the bench to begin with as he plays centre, backrow and can play hooker.

Sheens has his favourites and that is that. Unless you are mates with Farah or Benji you are on the outside looking in for the most part. That and matt probably was too deep in his own comfort zone at Balmain at times, liked to party a bit too much and was a little too carefree. That will change in an NRL top squad though.

Still when he debuts it will make me feel sick to my stomach to watch a talented kid and descendant of a Balmain legend debuting for another club while dross runs around in the grade above him

Going off what you guys have said, I think this guy could debut for us a bit quicker than some people would initially think.....
Let's wait and see, sounds like this could be a great signing.

Matt Ryan, who played for Balmain-Ryde Eastwood, has signed with the Eels; no official press release, just a little bit of information in this video on the Eels site;

Could anyone shed some more light on him and whether you think it's a good signing for us? He's part of our top 25 now.

Here's a little bit more information about Matt Ryan.

No information about him playing for Balmain-Ryde, but his career in college football and the NFL as a QB has been quite good but in no way does this translate to success in the NRL. This sport is not AFL where a blind monkey could succeed.

I suppose with there possibly being no NFL this year, what with the lockout and all that, Matt Ryan was in desperate need of an alternative way to earn a salary.

:lol:
I noticed he doesn't have a wiki page.

Didn't expect Campbell to go around again. So as of now Titans have lost Laffranchi, Tonga, and Friend, and replaced them with Idris, Myles, Douglas, Champion and Aiden Sezar. Searle must be one hell of an accountant

Newcastle Knights have confirmed that St George Illawarra fullback Darius Boyd will be following Wayne Bennett to the club next season.

The new agreement with the Knights will once again link the two time premiership winner and Clive Churchill Medallist to play under Bennett for the next four years.

Hunter Sports Group CEO Troy Palmer is confident the signing of Boyd will give the entire club as well as members and fans a great lift.

"The signing of a current international and premiership winning player clearly highlights the enthusiasm of NRL players wanting to join the club and be part of our exciting future."
