hi boo boo and fellow rabbitohs as i said in one of my posts that i would post some news by july 9th about souths for next year.

1. Firstly the players at redfern are all in for one hell of a shock next year when maguire arrives apparently he is like a military disciplinary drill sargeant nothing yet seen before at redfern and believe me we are on a winner rest assured maguire knows his trade these players wont know what hit them at redfern in 2012.

2. talanoa will be on the wing next year (hard to believe)

3. as we all know matt king will be a centre with us next year as mcpherson goes to esl.

4. nathan merritt will be put at fullback.

5. greg inglis will be no6 next year.

6. adam Reynolds will be no7 next year.

7. the club's doors wont open soon because of a minor financial problem (dont hold your breath).

8. apparently maguire is understood to be in talks with another high profile player for next year.

9. maguire has definately had his choice of who goes and who comes at souths im told others may fall before he arrives.

10. wesser to retire.

11. geddes and stuart are a 50-50 chance to play next year.

12. sandow was offered 3.4 mil but if we had offered 3.9 mil sandow would have resigned with us apparently, but parra came up with 4mil plus so he signed.sandows kicking game alone is worth 1.6 mil a season with a recent 92% kicking record.

13. some factions in the inter club sanctum believe it's best for the souths team that sandow is gone only time will tell but i personally believe with inglis and reynolds playing at 6 and 7 next year we will come up trumps.

14. and lastly souths are very interested in a young fast whiz kid with remarkable talent from out west who plays off the bench for the penrith panthers a kid called nafe seluini this kid has amazing speed and talent.

15. chris mcqueen wants to remain in the forwards.

16. ben ross has been told to look elsewhere as most of us know already.

17. and lastly crowe has been in regular contact with maguire apparently maguire wants cronk at half back in 2013 at any cost time will tell.

I attended the Harlequins/Wigan ESL game today and got to see first hand what impact Maguire's coaching philosophy has had on a team. Wigan's defence was ferocious, with quick line speed - something that we've been lacking in recent years. He's also kept the old Melbourne wrestling strategy as there was a lot of that going on in the ruck. All of which bodes well for us next year. I'd love to see a return to the stingy defence of '07 which led us to the finals. Also regarding our halves situation, Brett Finch looks too old even for the ESL but Leuluai's kicking game was solid and consistent.

On some of your above points One-eyed Rabbitoh,

- #1-7 sound about right, although the thought of 'Turnstile Talanoa' returning is alarming.
- Could #8 involve Thomas Leuluai? Or Tim Moltzen?
- #10: Thank f**k for that. Should've gone 2 years ago.
- #16: Bizarre decision about Ross. He's been impressive this season and wouldn't have been on that much next year anyway.

Good to hear Gi will be going back to 6. I wasnt a fan when he first went there but the centers game has changed considerably in the past few years. Always best when he has his hands on the ball first rather then waiting for the 6 and backrow to decide what there going to do with it

Also regarding the high-profile player Madge is said to be after it surely has to be a forward. And if he's going after players he's familiar with Sika Manu is off contract and there has been no talk down here about him much too my concern.

I heard talanoa and morgan could be gone next year.I would retain ross but I think he will go to the sharks,if reynolds and Inglis are the halves we are not much chance of making the 8,Inglis said on fox he didnt really want to play five eight because he had to do to much defence..Seluini is a hooker so I highly doubt we would sign him unless luke leaves as we already have luke, peats and clark who can cover hooker. We need another prop and a halfback five eight option.

^^^ I don't get these figures here; 3.9 mil a season :? 4 mil plus:? didn't Parra sign him for 400k.

Exactly what is needed

2. talanoa will be on the wing next year (hard to believe)

All I have to say is why?

3. as we all know matt king will be a centre with us next year as mcpherson goes to esl.

I am not concerned about McPherson leaving. I have some real doubts about King next year.

4. nathan merritt will be put at fullback.

Merritt will do a fine job there. But what about Josh Mansour?

5. greg inglis will be no6 next year.

Not happy and going on what another poster said here neither is Inglis. I keep on going back to the Storm and when Inglis played #6 there. They thought it was such a success they moved him back to centre and signed Brett Finch. I hope the move works but I have BIG doubts about it.

6. adam Reynolds will be no7 next year.

Who else is there. Saw him play U-20's last year. Looked ok but nothing special and has missed most if not all of this year. No.7 will be a real problem for us next season.

7. the club's doors wont open soon because of a minor financial problem (dont hold your breath).

Will it ever open?

8. apparently maguire is understood to be in talks with another high profile player for next year.

I hope its a prop.

9. maguire has definately had his choice of who goes and who comes at souths im told others may fall before he arrives.

He is coach so he should have a lot of say.

10. wesser to retire.

Old and passed his best. Time to move on.

11. geddes and stuart are a 50-50 chance to play next year.

I don't see any reason to keep either of them. Geddes is always injured and Stuart will be 34. Time to move on.

12. sandow was offered 3.4 mil but if we had offered 3.9 mil sandow would have resigned with us apparently, but parra came up with 4mil plus so he signed.sandows kicking game alone is worth 1.6 mil a season with a recent 92% kicking record.

His on field performances will be missed. From a playing perspective would have rather kept him then Sutton.

13. some factions in the inter club sanctum believe it's best for the souths team that sandow is gone only time will tell but i personally believe with inglis and reynolds playing at 6 and 7 next year we will come up trumps.

Supposedly Sandow has some off-field problems. If true then we will not miss them. To be quite honest the combination of Inglis and Reynolds in the halves does not excite me.

14. and lastly souths are very interested in a young fast whiz kid with remarkable talent from out west who plays off the bench for the penrith panthers a kid called nafe seluini this kid has amazing speed and talent.

We don't need a hooker, or do we? Can he play halfback?

15. chris mcqueen wants to remain in the forwards.

Good idea.

16. ben ross has been told to look elsewhere as most of us know already.

Smart move. Time to move on.

17. and lastly crowe has been in regular contact with maguire apparently maguire wants cronk at half back in 2013 at any cost time will tell.

We will not be the only club.

YES we need structure and discipline

2. talanoa will be on the wing next year (hard to believe)

If he performs why not , however he will not be there based on form before injury.

3. as we all know matt king will be a centre with us next year as mcpherson goes to esl.

either centre or wing , depends on Farrell , Talona , Sutton , Kane and Roberts and Inglis final position.

4. nathan merritt will be put at fullback.

Or Roberts in my view.

5. greg inglis will be no6 next year.

still do not know where Sutton goes , he does not have a second rower workrate and he is not a impact bench player

6. adam Reynolds will be no7 next year.

OK

7. the club's doors wont open soon because of a minor financial problem (dont hold your breath).

Fullback/half ?

9. maguire has definately had his choice of who goes and who comes at souths im told others may fall before he arrives.

10. wesser to retire.

good

11. geddes and stuart are a 50-50 chance to play next year.

Stuart should retire and Geddes has contract for next year. I would not count on him
given his injury record.

12. sandow was offered 3.4 mil but if we had offered 3.9 mil sandow would have resigned with us apparently, but parra came up with 4mil plus so he signed.sandows kicking game alone is worth 1.6 mil a season with a recent 92% kicking record.

numbers you quote make NO sense. How many years? 4 years , cannot believe we would offer approx $800k PA to sandow and he did not accept. Even 5 years , still over $600k PA. no way.

13. some factions in the inter club sanctum believe it's best for the souths team that sandow is gone only time will tell but i personally believe with inglis and reynolds playing at 6 and 7 next year we will come up trumps.

we do not need a hooker.

16. ben ross has been told to look elsewhere as most of us know already.

He has been holding the prop position for us this year and doing a good job. He is ahead of Stuart and Geddes in my books and would prefer to release Roy and keep Ross.

17. and lastly crowe has been in regular contact with maguire apparently maguire wants cronk at half back in 2013 at any cost time will tell.

does not imply much confidence in Reynolds.

I rate Michael Maguire as the best up and coming coach in the game but i think he has already made a mistake if he thinks Matt King is a centre, King is a very good winger but a very average centre.

Thats why he plays on the wing at Warrington.

Id think he's being bought here to be more off a defensive rock then an attacking dynamo, especailly with GI going to 5/8

My 2012 Team.

1. Nathan Merritt (Great support player, he will really stand out at the back)
2. Josh Mansour (Is an awesome winger, who needs to play first grade)
3. Dylan Farrell (Wont loose his spot in the centres)
4. Greg Inglis (Needs to stay to stay in the centres, only moved if last resort)
5. Matt King (Played for Australia and NSW on the wing)
6. ??? (Get a 5/8 who will give Inglis the ball)
7. ??? (A smart organizing halfback)
8. Luke Stuart (If he dosent retire)
9. Issac Luke (Issac will be in the 9 next year)
10. Roy Asotasi (c) (Will retain captaincy)
11. Sam Burgess (Needs to stay in the back-row, and not moved to Prop)
12. Dave Taylor (Needs to stay in the back row)
13. John Sutton (Will be awesome on the fringes, and a real attacking weapon)

14. Scott Geddes (If he dosent retire)
15. Mick Crocker (Not sure to start him at lock or Sutton)
16. Eddy Pettybourne (Runs hard, hits hard)
17. ??? (New Prop, Maybe Luke Burgess if he improves over the off-season)

18. Ben Lowe
19. Jason Clark
20. Dave Tyrell
21. Chris McQueen
22. Nathan Peats

Why is it that Lang doesn't have a game plan to get the ball to Inglis as much as possible? I watched him play against Manly today and he hardly got the ball. This guy only plays well for Queensland. He's on $600 000, give him the ball and make him earn his money. Why do the other players accept this at Souths?

No idea but it pisses me off immensely.

 I felt the same when he was at the Storm, especailly the last year or 2.

Each set consisted of various combinations of dummy half scoot, forward hit-up, forward hit-up, nice set play to the right, another play to the right to open up the left for shift to Greg - except, hello defence is on to us, theyve rushed up to shut GI's space down (or Ryan hoffmans gone to ground with the ball).

TBF you couldnt argue with the results but I always felt he wasnt becoming the player he should be due too the style.

Its also why I laugh, roll my eyes and think merkin doesnt know much when the inevitable "Inglis is MIA" tag gets thrown around.

The 2nd par is also why I feel 6 is now the best spot for him i.e. let him pick and choose when he wants the ball, as I said in the Foran thread on the main board, 5/8 is still be best spot to tear a game to shreds from.

Or at the very least a have 6 with a great passing game next to him and piss off the system of the backrower inside always getting the ball first, this is one area were Queensland know how to use him.

It's like Lang doesn't realise he has a bloody good centre.

Inglis was good in this game and had a spectacular try assist but even then it wasn't any set plan from Lang but a piece of individual brilliance from GI going out of his way to get some ball.

As a five eighth under Maguire he'll have a lot more opportunities.
