Fullback Problem

I think it is pretty obvious that we have issues here.

Moltzen can play but he is a touch out of form and he will drop bombs/ miss tackles and generally make mistakes until he learns how to be a fullback.

McKinnon is simply atrocious.

I agree ,WTF does McKinnon offer? he has lost his pace, doesn't contest bombs and never pulls off any try saving tackles!

I think it's quite clear that Brown is the best option there for the run into the finals. Might be too late in the season to throw in Mullaney or Meaney on a full-time basis.

Be interested in who people think the fullback for the rest of the season should be.......

Contenders: McKinnon, Moltzen, Brown, Ryan, Mullaney, Meaney, Tuquiri

I vote Brown.

Who the f**k is fullback in 2012? Must be buying one surely.

McKinnon threw his body at full paced legs to save us twice. Nightingale couldn't walk after kicking him, so who knows what happened to his body. He should have claimed the bomb, but he pulled out after Benji went for it first.

I'd have played Brown, but whoever we play, they've got to play there full time. It's not good throwing players around and expecting them to have confidence in themselves and dominate their area when the coach clearly has none in them.

McKinnon is too mistake prone. Moltzen wasn't bad tonight, but he's erratic, gone next year anyway. Always thought Brown looked good but must be out of favour with Tim.

I know i've suggested it before but i'd like to see Lawrence trial there during the off season...as much as people would ask why weaken one position to strengthen another i think the nett gain would be more than worth it...for me he has a combination of the attributes of Gary Jack and Tim Brasher...remember that Brasher was a centre before moving to fullback after Jack left..Brasher, The Tigers, NSW and the Australian side never looked back
Just a thought out of Left Field (literally)

Probably Brown for me, but Ryan isn't going anywhere now so where will he fit when Lote is back?

How would Tuqiri go at FB?

Agreed. He may run the 100m in 18.9s but he puts his body on the line. My first preference is Brown but if Sheens is going to persist with Moltzen and McKinnon, I'd prefer that McKinnon gets more game time.

Yep.

If Moltzen had been there all year I think by now he'd be the best option. Maybe Brown or Ryan would also fit in there.

Sheens though needs to make a decision now and stick with it.

The Statue did his best to get the Dragons home last night...

Didnt contest the Bomb that led to Morris's try from the resulting dropout...

Twice couldnt fall on the ball successfully so we could have ran out the clock...

Thankfully he only played about 15 minutes...

I love Shines logic by having him on the bench... Imagine the scenario when the Tigers are down in the second half and are looking for an impact player to come off the bench.. I know,, lets get The Statue on - that will get the opposition worried...

Moltzen will never ever be a good fullback ,, even after 10 years there.

Would it be crazy to put Beau there when Lote returns? I dunno he is all heart and might just pull it off.

Brown I'd love to see, very underrated, seemingly by our coach.

Brown is miles ahead as our best option . Funny thing was a few weeks back i was watching them train and they were kicking bomb after bomb to Brown for practice, it seems Moltzen is the one who needs the practice.... maybe his turn was later on or they thought it was no point has he already had letting them bounce down pat!

McKinnon made a couple of mistakes, but he put his body on the line on that play near the end there, yeah he knocked on but it was a VERY tough one to take and at least he contested it, unlike Moltzen.

For me, Brown should be at fullback without doubt, but Sheens just won't do it. I would rather McKinnon than Moltzen any day of the week.

McKinnon knocked on once for sure. The other two were very questionable.

On the bomb, watch it again. Benji calls it and than stops dead

I would persist with Moltzen, I think he is getting better each week, mind you he would want to. But now with Lawrence hammy gone Sheens may move him up into the line. McKinnon way to slow and Brown is not going to get a look in for some reason only known to the coach

I think Lawrence is the best option as well. The problem is that he is so good at centre as well.

Fullback is a more important position in my opinion and I'd play Lawrence there next year.

Yep. McKinnon is way too slow and he gets caught out all the time. He might have a good game or two left in him but in my opinion Moltzen is easily the least risky option.

Sheens has muffed the fullback position up this year and I reckon he is just hoping McKinnon & Moltzen can play good enough for us to win some more games this season.

Brown is probably the safest option now but I can't see Sheensy picking him.
