Can Soward play through pain??

Look, I love the guy and I don't wanna be the millionth guy to bag him, but why is he so quick to put his hand up and run off the field whenever he gets hurt? In City Country he got a minor hamstring tear and couldn't get off the field quick enough, then his efforts last night with his back spasm that we've since learnt won't keep him sidelined.

It's frustrating because you would never see guys like Darren Lockyer or Jonathon Thurston put their hands up to come off unless they had completely broke down, especially when the game is on the line like it was last night.

Playing with injury is part and parcel of being an NRL footy player, and as I declared earlier I love Sowie, but in my opinion he really needs to start supplementing his meals with some concrete.

What do you guys think??

So ... City /Country and then last night. Wow.

Ever had a back spasm yourself? It's quite debilitating. He's quite resilient for a little guy.

Stupid thread.

Duly noted.

He appears to almost crumble before your eyes at the very first onset of pain.

Also gets a whiny sooky look on his face when in said pain

Comical to watch really.........

Huh?

I wouldn't be surprised if Soward has spent more time on the field for us than any other player.

As for using Lockyer as an example, in recent years coaches have wrapped him in cotton wool. If the game is won/lost he'll often be the first one off.

By comparison, Soward is tough as teak.

You have no idea what kind of pain he was or wasn't feeling last night. Bit harsh to judge him on that. It was obvious his movement was limited when he let that try in.

Very harsh. The bloke has been injured maybe twice in the past 3 years? Hardly misses a game, tries his guts out each week. Last night he gets injured and asks to come off, knowing that he is a liability but is told to play on which costs the team. None of his teammates seemed to give a sh*t either.

I'm more concerned that we did'nt get him off quick smart last night . Leaving him out there to tough it out cost us the game imo

Firstly, City-Country is a nothing game, it doesn't make any sense to stay on and further injure yourself.

Secondly, you can't judge unless you know how debilitating the back pain was. Having had back spasms where it was completely debilitating and I couldn't even stand up, I could understand how he wasn't able to make the tackle.

He has actually played on when injured quite a lot. Ever had a tear in the hamstring, even minor? not surprised he went off.
last night the problem was they didnt get him off quickly eoug. Ever think he was trying to do the right thing by the team?

I saw Jamie Soward as the player that after the missed tackle ran the distance never giving up on Marshall. Where were the rest of the Dragons team? Everyone in the NRL is tough, especially those who play week in and week out/

He was gone but still ran it out, had they got him off early I think we would've won. Would hate to see him injured like that in the finals or worse heading into it and can't play at all. Soward is still the man, having said all this I can understand people questioning his toughness because it's happened several times this year, but to say that he is sh#t and over rated I really think you've been watching the wrong guy lol and should be ashamed of that comment if you're a real Dragons fan. Do I question his toughness. NO, not at all.
