Roosters release, re: Todd Carney: "Following a request from Todd Carney and his manager David Riolo, the Sydney... fb.me/KnxN05NX

They didn't sack him, but did release him. If his manager asked for a release then surely that means he's got another club/France already lined up...

More trouble then his worth, they are complaining at souths about Sandow's off field troubles they are nothing compared to Todd. Blokes needs to spend 12mths at Betty Ford.

They must have seen the new animation and made their decision.

Souths new halfback for 2012

I know everyone will say "he has too many off field issues", but what is the other option for Souths? Maybe he can be Russell's pet project.

I've heard rumours of Cowboys, Sharks and Souths:

I'm heard an interesting rumour on Tuesday that Todd Carney has been linked to South Sydney. The rumour is timely with his release today.
Faaaark....back when it was fantasy I was for it, but if there's any chance we actually will go that way, now I'm not so sure. Seems scary. The 'rocks or diamonds' cliche is overused but it applies with him, if a club like Souths or Cowboys throws him a lifeline it could win them a premiership...it could ruin multiple seasons.

It'd be worth the risk for the likes of Cronulla and Souths. I mean, surely it couldn't get any worse for them?

This.

At the same time, a 25 year old five eighth of his quality... Souths?

TBH I don't think we could afford him, Thurston is the highest paid player in the game and we have large contracts for Scott, Tate and to a lesser extent Payne and Bowen as well.

Tonga is leaving though, so there may be some wiggle room. Personally I don't want him, we have a quality young number 6 and we don't need the off field bullshit

The Raiders have cleared a lot of cap room recently and all his mates play for the club.

Would he be allowed to move to another NRL club? Wouldn't Gallop and his cronies want him expelled from the whole competition??

Nah. Last time he brought the game into disrepute by pissing on some blokes head.

Can't ban him from the NRL for having a few beers. That was the Roosters rule.
