have read this thread & wanted to make a comment with all jokes & humour left out..
personally, i can't understand the justification for why this thread was created.
we have seen quite a horrible tragedy occur recently with this fire, and any glorification of the event at such an early stage is really quite wrong. the sick minded person who (allegedly) started this fire has done so for reasons that most rational people can never understand, however one key trend that occurs with firebugs is the feeling of satisfaction they recieve when they see hype and excitement created by their actions.
this thread simply serves the purpose to create greater hype for what is a tragic event.
further to this, the actions taken by this elderly man were quite stupid & put his life at risk. any fire survivor will tell you the most important thing you can get away with is your life, and the lives of those you care about. items can be replaced, people can't.
i really cannot understand the justification in posting this thread and calling the guy:
A hardcore supporter
as when you look at this objectively, he was not rescuing the cap because it was a rabbitohs cap, he was rescuing the cap because of the sentimental bond he held with it given that it was a gift to him from his relatives.
you could replace the rabbitohs cap with any other item (teddy bear, painting or even a pair of shoes) and the story would remain the same.
he rescued the item for his family, not his team.
and yes, i'm sure most of you reading this will simply fire off an abusive message in reply, or tell me to get out because i'm not of the same jersey colour as you..
however.. there are things bigger than football, and having 9 elderly people being murdered is one of those things. so if you choose to simply dismiss my thoughts or input into this discussion based on the team i choose to support, then i recommend stepping infront of the mirror and asking yourself if you are happy with the person looking back at you.
