1. Stewart / Dugan Pending on form
2. Gordon
3. Lawrence
4. Hayne
5. Uate
6. Campese / Mullen / Carney. Maloney or Soward if these 3 aren't firing or fit.
7. Pearce
8. Mannah / TLL
9. Farah
10. Gallen (C)
11. Lewis
12. Scott
13. Stewart

14. Bird
15. TLL / Mannah
16. Galloway
17. Watmough

I think its a well balanced team. Only real question mark over 5/8 position, IMO the rest are set in stone.

I don't get the Lawrence love. I thought he was average in the Four Nations.

My side:

1. Dugan
2. Uate
3. Hayne
4. Jennings
5. Gordon
6. Carney
7. Pearce
8. Gallen
9. Farah
10. Learoyd-Lahrs
11. Scott
12. Watmough
13. Stewart

14. Gidley
15. Lewis
16. Mannah/Snowden
17. Bird

Players like T Sims, Williams, Grant, Douglas, Houston etc, could all definitely be pushing for spots. In fact, NSW need a bit of a physical beast like T Sims to try and unsettle QLD.

I thought a lot of players were average in the four nations. I thought Uate was poor. I wouldn't leave Lawrence out. T Sims would be my 18th man. Lewis into the starting 13 for Scott, and Learoyd-Lahrs onto the bench. Need 4 props imo and I have no idea why anyone disputes this.

Lawrence hasn't proven himself yet at rep level though. Jennings has, Hayne has and Uate has. Gordon is Mr Consistent every week .... I dunno, I just don't see how Lawrence is an automatic selection.

Having said that, I think he's definitely a good player and if he's in the right form at the time, he'll more than likely get a shot.

stuart said he was going to pick lawrence at left center this year if he wasnt injured.

as for not proving himself at rep level...4 tries in 6 tests with 4 of those test at right center.

dont know how you can say jennings (who i do like) HAS proved himself who really has only played one good origin game in four appearances.

lawrence is by far nsw's best center and i would love to see his battle against hodges on the origin arena

Lawrence did look a little out of place playing at right centre, which is fair enough considering he is a specialist left centre, but he played well in the games where he was left centre.
If Jennings was in the team I'd prefer Jennings on the right and Lawrence on the left.

Why not throw Hayne into contention for the 5/8 position? It is a position he has played a lot of and is far more familiar with than Centre.

because his running game is superior to his passing game. All we need are halves that can feed our outside backs quality ball and give the them time to move with the ball. They are classy enough to finish the job.

Michael Jennings has 3 tries in 1 test for Australia. He was played at right centre and was also Man of the Match in that game.

His first few matches for NSW were underwhelming, but he was carrying niggling injuries and playing in a clearly inferior team that sucked as a whole. So it's not the best indication of his ability at that level. His most recent performance for NSW was outstanding though, and it was the first game where he was in good shape and getting plenty of quality ball.

The trouble with Jenko is that he needs space to be effective. He doesn't have the size, weight and strength to be as damaging as the bigger boys if he doesn't have room. If a player can only get an arm out to him or small contact he can bounce out of that, but he isn't going to run overtop of players like some of the bigger boys can do.

While you are correct, Jarryd's ball playing and kicking game is at an adequate level to excel at origin. There is also the intangible quality that Jarryd excels at this level, more so than most of the other players that have played for NSW in recent history. I dont see why we couldn't trail him at 5/8 for CVC, after all the city 5/8 for last season was Kris Keating!

mate i like jennings and he is my right center in my 2012 nsw team. your exactly right in saying that he needs early ball as he uses his pace and footwork to beat the opposition, Lawrence is the opposite and is most dangerous getting late, flat ball as he is a line runner who goes straight and hard.

I wouldn't throw him straight into 5/8 in origin. CvC maybe is a good idea because it doesn't really matter who wins. He will be surrounded by better players where he doesn't have to try every miracle pass like at paramatta.
But I think for him to be succesful at origin level at 5/8th he would need a dominate half who could do most the work and organise the team really well. I don't really have full faith in Pearce to control the entire team around for 80 minutes.

Besides Gall the great we again look farked in the prop department unless there are three or four blokes that are suddenly going to grow a set and support the great man by stepping up and bashing the shit out the QLD pack. Otherwise, another lost series.

Haynes best position is centre. Id rather play Jennings on the left wing outside Lawrence with Hayne and Uate on the right

We just need a Matt Scott-esque player cause QLDs props besides him aren't threatening at all.
Civoniceva
Scott
Hannant
Shillington
Lillyman
Taylor

Are very beatable.

Gallen
Mannah
Tolman
Learoyd-Lahrs
Galloway

Can top them

You want to match him up against Inglis? :sarcasm:

Shillington in 2010 was very intimidating. Shillington, Scott, Civo, Lillyman / Hannant is a great prop rotation and we can't beat it. But we still have good props and the better backrow imo, although QLDs backrow is underrated.
