I really dont know how the coaching/recruitment staff can justify only having four players of first grade standard in the Club who can play 6,7,9,14....Basically if any one of Roberts, Sandow, Keating or McGuireget injured we are stuffed and have no player to take their place. Maybe we can put Burt in 14, but that is about it. Its ridiculous that you would put all your eggs in one basket like that, especially considering Keating is one of those options. Realistically, even if they dont perform and are our 4 worst performers each week they cant be dropped because their is no one else to replace them.

The other half my brain wasnt missing poupou, it knew we had shit halves, but hang on, didnt we have the same halves in 2009 when we went to the GF.

Oh hang on, we had Inu and Mateo then and we didnt last year didnt we.
Oh hang on, we didnt have the same forwards in 2009 so it must have been that they were missing in 2010 and 2011.

Oh hang on, every club has changes to its roster and has to adapt every year. We simply do not seem to be able to adapt and yet when we lose games we find excuses in injuries or blame the coach. The quote I commented on claimed that the missing players were the difference, my comment was looking for the excuse from last year and while we can blame the halves, we always seem to have someone or something to blame.

Maybe we need to accept our roster is fundamentally shite.

I blame the 1986 squad - if they were still around maybe we would have no excuses :crazy:

They didn't really play as halves though did they? In attack they played as extra fullbacks in a pretty novel attacking strategy that surprised a lot of teams at just the right end of the season.

Unfortunately other clubs figured us out in 2010 (keeping the whole defensive line up until the tackle was completed) and we came crashing back to Earth.

We had almost exactly the same forwards in 2009-2010 so that's no excuse.

Most teams (the most successful ones) change their rosters slowly. We've had fundamental weaknesses in our roster that needed replacing and the best way to do that was to do it quickly.

When we're successful I'm sure we'll switch to the slow change model of squad development that the successful teams can afford to use.

I think we definitely do.

As fans that can be hard - the absolute worst thing that could have happened to our club was us arsing our way into the 2009 grand final from 8th place, because it placed unrealistic expectations on a fundamentally shit squad of players.

Before the season began our roster was considered to be in the top half. Now we've lost a few games and all of a sudden our roster is shit and the losses are just to be expected.
Give me a f**king break.

By whom? I didn't see any predictions of the Eels making 8 by 'experts' and bookies never had them anywhere near the top line of betting for the comp.

It's the roster that's on the park that counts, not the one on paper. Have a good think of that people and have a look who we have been missing.

Dogs undefeated, have everyone bar James Gavet fit, you say "who", yes a new buy who played NSW Cup last year.

Parra have a match winner that very few clubs have and he's currently injured. Such is life

Our roster's only shit because of the injuries. If we even get Hayne back we'll be a different team.

Are the Tigers fans going to boycott their next game?
They are lucky to have the one win, Cronulla got ripped in extra time of that game. They have had close to their best on the field including their best player Benji.

They were the competition favourites and do we hear anything bad about them?

Some of you PRETENDER fans need a real good look at yourselves.
