Top 5 Centres

So who are the top 5 centres in the game today? Mine would be

1. Lyon
2. Morris
3. Tate
4. Hodges
5. Jennings

I can't go past Lyon. He's just consistently good week in week out. There is nothing flash about him but he gets the job done.
Morris has taken his game to another level this year under the Hasler and will only improve.
Tate had a great origin series and is continuing his good form with the Cowboys.
Hodges after a disappointed origin series has stepped his game up for the Broncos when the team has needed him the most.
Jennnings after a poor start to the year has been back to his best for the Panthers.

Hodges always plays his best footy for the Broncos. He never really dominated at origin or international level.

Can't fault that list.

Only other centre worth mentioning is Matai.

Did not expect Tate to play as well as he has this season. Really thought he'd struggle after the 2010 4Nations.

Lyon
Tate
Morris

They're the 3 standouts for mine ATM, with a few not too far behind.

Give guys like Gagai or Linnett an extra couple of years and they should feature in most top 5's

Lyon is so far ahead of every other centre in the comp and has been for a couple of years. It's a joke that he's not playing Rep Football. Daley has to do everything in his power to make him change his mind before Origin next year.

Lyon is so far ahead of every other centre in the game it's not funny. I agree with the rest of your list.

A couple of other notables who probably deserve a mention as well.

Gagai
Linnett

If I was in Lyon's boots I wouldnt play next year either,.. its a lose lose situation for him.

He plays crap(I doubt it but its possible) and gets bagged in the media and hangs up his rep boots again

He plays great and we win the series, and he's blamed for NSW losing in previous series by not being available(don't laugh some idiot in the media would bring it up)

Lyon & Inglis are in a class of their own when it comes to the best centres.

I wouldn't even have Hodges in my top 10, he's error prone, average defender can't play in a structure and these days only really offer a decent dummy half runner.
