those last few seconds of the game tho........ heart attack stuff. i think the reason its such a classic is because it could have turned into a very painful dragons memory ala 1999. i always watch the replay of the final moments and thank goddddddddd boy didnt come in for the tackle on ryan but instead let someone else while he hung out for a possible kick. had he come in...an easy try to the tigers.

but back on topic...

lets not forget sowards pass with the defense rushing forward in the same game to gasnier (and on to nightingale) for our first try in the second half to draw us even!.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JBEpGNG400&feature=player_detailpage#t=131s

they had been giving us the up and in defense all game!

 I was getting nervous just at the memories of those last couple of plays. I was certain they'd score & break our hearts again in the worst, worst possible circumstances! Incredible game, what a win

Just watched this clip... great 15 minutes.. i forgot just how good Saints were in 2010... and it fills me with hope that we will be that good again, soon... come on Saints!!!!

Also reminds me of what a great player Darius Boyd was for us , he was the best defensive fullback always in the right place at the right time gosh I miss the guy.

jamie is one of the premier halves in the competition. he is a big game player. doust and co are crazy if they let him go.

the thing that worries me is that he and price only have a good 'working' relationship. I dont think that is enough from steve price. Jamie needs someone who will take him under his wing,
ala bennett. This enough shows me that he will leave at the end of 2013

gee i hope we dont lose him

was so happy to see jamie start to get back into the swing of things against the warriors. whilst a few kicks were duds....quite a few were spot on and lead to points.hopefully next year he can receive the support he deserves.

i do agree that he needs to challenge the line more the way thurston does. fewer hospital passes to fellow players. he has great footwork and acceleration.

i wonder still had price not f ed with him whether we would have won that other game and perhaps been in the position the raiders find themselves in now.

(his goal kicking was good too. its nice to know that when we score a try chances are it will be converted)

Thats the thing mate. He will NEVER challenge the line. He's a great passer and the best kicker in the game, but to move forward, we need someone to take the line on.

I'd move him on if it were up to me.

It all goes back to the coach's ability and the quality of the game plan. Bennett recognised Soward's gifts and limitations and designed game plans around this. Price needs to do the same.

Rather than have Soward take the line front on, he should be running onto offleads from Merin, Hunt and Creagh. When this is not on, he should be providing kicks and passes in the way that he can do so well.

Just recall the way Soward cut the Eels to pieces before SOO in 2011.

He's been trying to do that all year. We dont have the team to do it any more.

That being the case, we rebuild.

Soward is a great player and it would be a shame to lose him. You say Price has been trying to do this all year however,

I haven't seen evidence of this. What I've seen is what can only be described as boarding on park footy game plans where the ball is just thrown around without a structure unil someone is couaght with the ball.

What is needed is a plan to create a hole in the defence and Soward, Nightingale, Morris, Creagh etc are put through that hole through and offload from Merrin, Hunt and Co. regularly during a game.

Wow, genius. I bet no coach has ever considered such a thing.

So you want to fix our attacking shortfalls, by making Merrin and Hunt playmakers? Dear me.

I really really really hop that soward goes hard out throughout pre season then links up with beale next yr and really shows us what hes capible of ! cos more than likely he will be playing for a contract but i rekon even if doust and craig young - our recruitment managers do try to sign a halve they wont come cos of how shit will pay them .. but thats a good thing cos i hope we are top 4 spot so that jamie can guarrantee a contract for the next 2 - 5 years yay :) come on sowwy do it for ur fans !

Jamie Soward. First year at the Dragons, unbelievable attacking game (and I mean amazing counter attack). Some of the greatest tries scored/set up ever. Next year, the best kicking game I have ever seen. Year after, incredible passing game. This year, a really great defensive game. Statistically one of ther best halves.

The problem with Soward is he can never have any more than two of his skills being dominant. The rest falls to shit. Mentally he is just so soft. Incredible skill set and all. But if you can't bring it to the game, who really cares?

It's lovely that so many posters have gay love for Jamie but he played like a muppet this year more often than not. As for claims by Minh that he should be captain, are you freaking serious? As if you want him captaining the Red V. Give it to Creagh or better still Merrin or Nighty. Someone who turns up every game, busts their arse and lives up to their potantial.

Soward will be an important component of the 2013 side and I will support him as always but if he moves on at the end of next year I would be a happy man. Once again we have a soft underbelly in our team and it is epitomised by Jamie Soward.

Yeah and when Soward says "I need you to take me under my wing" Price will say "Love you but a bit busy at the moment. How old are you? Oh 28? And you still need me to breast feed you? Sorry mate. It's a tough old world out there. Go back to the Cutters and come back when you want to unleash the talent that should make you in a lock-in for Origin."

HOw can you say that soward doesnt turn up every game and busts his arse... he plays with his heart on his sleeve week in week out! The most passionate player on our team
