No YouTube in China, SK :-( What is the track? I have a lengthy running play-list that has kept me sane nd fit, haha

Yeah f**k 2011. Had the same depression-struggle to get out of bed thing Misanthrope talked about.

the year i turned 21. Moved out of home and to sydney. Moved in with first real boyfriend. Bought my very first brand new car. Bought my very first pet. Made lots of new friends and generally had lots of gt's. especially towards the end of the year.

I laugh whenever I see the pics from that NYE, especially ones featuring the two people who stayed back at your place while the rest of us walked down to Blues Point. F**king Ginge...

Wow, surprised at how many of you have had depression. I wouldn't know what it's like and hopefully never find out.

I was diagnosed early last year, but have a feeling it had been an issue long before that. With the right medication, an active life (both socially and physically), and the support of friends - I'm pretty stoked to say I've been largely happy since mid last year.

Touch wood!

They came through the other end. Kudos.

I don't seem to experience massive highs or drop down to awful lows.

It's... meh....

Seriously though, been in situations where people say they 'want to be happy.'

Would settle for content. Very contented right now. Happy takes far too much energy to sustain over the long term tbh.

It's simple brain chemistry. I said over the long term.

Short term, happiness is a great feeling, and everyone should have their bit, but it's biochemically and neurologically impossible to stay at that elevated state for long periods of time.

Hence the use of the idea of contentment.

EDIT: thinking about this a tad too scientifically. Sorry.

Happiness = good. 'nuff said.

Haha me playing catch up after work and drinking like 2/3 of a bottle of vodka and spewing my guts up by 9pm. Probably the best NYE I've ever had.

The day we removed the hallway carpet and those f**king mirrors was like bliss.

 There's a photo of you sitting on the balcony with your phone tucked between your boobs, Mum saw it once and went "Hmm. Classy".

She does.

The NYE after (09/10) was pretty fun as well...

- That workmate of your ex's creeping on the girls downstairs

- Your ex showing his....um......flamboyant side when somebody played a certain Vengaboys track...

"Butt scratcher!"
"Butt scratcher???"

"Layla! Got me on my knees Layla! Baby won't you please!"

I was so very munted that night. The photos show me guilty as charged...

I've been there and felt that. There were days (hell, weeks and months) early last year where I literally wouldn't leave my bed. It meant the end of my relationship, me getting released from my job in Korea, and basically pulling myself away from everybody who cared about me - friends and family.

I agree with the science, but it's quite easy to feel content for lengthy periods of time. I've had very few down periods since I made changes in my life - although I wouldn't advocate moving to China for everybody who is feeling blue

2009/2010. Moved out of home, lived about 2km from the City with 4 mates, great pub 50m down the road, wish I still lived there tbh

Just realised something about this.

This year I moved back to Melbourne. Broke up with said boyfriend. Smashed my car and had my cat nearly die and cost me $5000.

I think I prefer to feel the ups and the downs of joy and sadness rather than let life ooze by feeling comfortable and only ever mildly pleased.

From 15-21 (2000-2006)...pretty much every day was a party, there were always people to go out/hang out with and always shit to do

Started to go downhill from there..realised I couldn't do that shit forever and had to grow up lol. Needed a reliable income and of course you slowly grow apart from a lot of friends due to gf's, work, other responsibilities etc

Kinda drifted for the next few years, in and out of jobs but when i was 25 I completed my IT qualification and got a job doing it so things are looking up :)
