^ So true!

There are more than in previous generations. I never listened to my parents music unless nailed to a chair and forced to. Now, kids are listening to stuff as far back as the Beatles. Kids learning to play guitar think more of Slash and Metallica than todays bands. My 15yo, who spent the last year trying to explain dubstep to me, recently bought his first CD - and has played it to death - the only think I hear him singing to. "These are such good songs" he says. The CD? Police Greatest Hits.

My 16yo adores the Iron Maiden shirt I got him for Christmas!

That kid of yours has damn fine taste

Paul Kind, NRL marketing something-or-other was on 2UE, he mentioned among other things, "Bon Jovi was one speed only, rock n roll....we are going in a different direction this year"

Bran Van - in the list of the biggest earning concerts of 2012, Van Halen (8th), Bruce Springsteen (2nd) and Madonna (1st), with a Michael Jackson tribute show 4th. All time highest attendence includes U2 (twice), AC/DC and The Police in the top 10, from their last tours.

Just because you listen to some stupid teenybopper autotune laden computer music.....

Yeah cause those were full of teenagers  Kids these days don't go to concerts, they go to festivals.

Classic music is classic music - just like young people could appreciate the Beatles in the 80s and 90s, kids these days can still appreciate older music. That said, acting like kids have some unusually accentuated focus on 80s music is laughable. For the most part youth of today don't give a SHIT about anything beyond our own generation. Thinking an 80s band in an advertising campaign appeals to young people just shows how completely detached you are.

Thats only because their music cannot be performed live - its all computer generated. Who wants to see someone playing a f*cking computer?

Anyway, didnt Iron Maiden headline Soundwave a few years back?

Wow, what a completely ignorant thing to say. Not surprising it is from you.

Iron Maiden and Metallica ('12 and '13 headliners) are still both recording new albums. This is why they headline.

Awww, I upset a fan of autotune and doof doof..........

They headline because of their fame and drawcard ability. Maiden in particular are a far bigger drawcard now than in their recording heyday. Now they produce albums mainly to promote tours, it used to be the other way around.

He had the power. The problem was Steve Stevens Marshalls were the US 110v variety. No one though to get them 240v amps!

Look, we have had a variety of artists and genres, and I have only heard on that made me cringe - "Its My Game" - saved by Tommy's loyalty rants and Rex Mossop "If you want to follow a game run by a bloody yank....."

As I think Danish said - Keneally's much panned "Blow that whistle" was actually well thought out and quite good. Tom Jones was pretty false, but still ok.

I guess one question to be asked - what do I remember from other codes? "Unbelievable" from AFL was very clever, and so was the old "You aint seen nothing yet" from Union. However, like Holden ad campaigns, they have to be good to sell sh*t.

It doesnt matter in the end. They will use an Aussie non rock artist. Channel 9 is the broadcaster. Who won The Voice again?

Silly comment Loudy, google defqon 1.

People pay bulk cash to see their favourite computers generate music at ferstivals.

Awww... Loudstrat is being a twat again.

I actually listen to metal music which is not doof doof nor uses auto tune.

But they wouldn't be headlining if they weren't still releasing music to make them relevant. The reason they are touring is in support of those albums.

Channel 9s sports broadcasting had very good music a year or two ago. Not sure what happened.

FTR most festival lineups are something like 80 per cent live music with real instruments you prehistoric ignoramus.

Was speaking to a teenager about music the other day. He said he liked Skrillex and other wubstep. When I told him I liked metal and punk he said 'Oh. like A Day to Remember'?

Kids these days don't give a f**k about older music.

Oh, except for the 4 kids at school who dress up like Goths and generally hate anything to do with sport.
