So I take it he is a Lonnnggggg way under 1 mil a year. Your post confused me. I thought you meant they were paying him 900,000 a year or similar.

If it is $1 mil over 3 years then I doubt it is as simple as $333k paid to him each year no matter what. He would have a low base salary plus match payments and then bonuses if he meets certain criteria (eg rep matches, number of FG games played etc)

I highly doubt he is paid a bonus on first grade games when he is picked in round 1 and untested and being re-signed on a 3 year deal for close to 300k a year.

300K a year to much hey luke? I'll remind you that :D

You should tell Des and Wayne, you clearly know more.

You are the one who knows nothing. So they are going to pay someone over $300k per year to someone who has never played a game of first grade in his life. Surely you are joking. You pay him bonuses and match fees to keep him motivated and reward good performance. It's quite common to pay bonuses not just in football but in any job. Something you would know if you were over the age of 12.

300k for a bloke to play reserve grade??? When are you going to remind me??

When he gets to his second year and starts asking for more money?? He's on 300k and hasn't done shit, what's he going to be asking in two years time?? Haha most expensive bench player in the NRL.

I'll remind you when you start losing players like Tolman, Pritchard etc. guys who are actually worth that much.

Even the guys on your Forum think that's a lot of money for an untested player.

1. In 2014 that is not the same cap structure.
2. Pritchard is at the end of his career, if you had to pick between him and Klemmer i'd pick Klemmer in 2014.
3. With Graham, Kasiano, Jackson, Finucane, Tony Williams wrapped up for a few years and now Klemmer he is a great prospect.
4. You are wrong. Des Hasler, Wayne Bennentt know alot more then you. I'll go in the list with them.

Can you read kid?

I never said he wouldn't be paid bonuses. I said I highly doubt a bloke who is picked to play first grade a year out from that contract, who is signing a 3 year deal worth close to 300k a year is going to be paid extra for playing a certain amount of first grade games. Like you claimed.

Man of matches, rep footy etc sure. Standard.

Perhaps you should read your comments and accept how wrong it was.

I agree he's a great prospect, but that's all he is at this stage, the Dogs have now sunk that much money into him that he has to be good.

BTW you are only speculating on what Bennett thinks he is worth. Bennett is very well known / documented, on refusing to pay big money for front row forwards, I'd be very surprised if he was willing to offer that much for him.

Once again you show your lack of knowledge.

He was known for not paying 400k for a prop in the old cap. Yet he did with Snowden.

This is under the new cap. Also 25% less then what it was in the OLD CAP.

This is far less in 2014.

He clearly was very interested along with several other clubs.

Either way you try to hide it, Des Hasler made the call. He is one of the best coaches in the NRL with only Wayne and Bellamy to be mentioned in the same league. He has alot more knowledge then anyone on this forum. Including you. I'm more then happy to feel comfortable in his decisions over your comment of "paid to much".

Yes I do. It gives the Bulldogs security that if he doesn't kick on and is stuck in reserve grade (remember he han't played first grade yet so we don't know how he will go) that they won't be stuck paying him $300k and chewing up the cap - freeing them to bring someone else into the squad. If he does kick on reach his potential. He gets his full contract amount and the Bulldogs are also happy. Keeps Klemmer motivated and to not slack off for 3 years and earn a lazy $300k

Lol at doggiesbro trying to justify his club signing a player who hasn't played a game yet 330k a season! That is wayyyyy to much for a debutant. Need we remind ourselves of Karl Filiga he has huge expectations on him was signed for a massive amount for a debutant and the pressure got to him.

Still reserved on klezmer

Just remember dominatin in Toyota cup isn't exactly a great indication of a players ability. There is a huge difference between NRL and TYC

Think it's safe to say that with this signing and rumours of Sam Williams close to a deal thurston isn't going to be a bulldog

David Klemmer re-signed before season kick off. Thank GOD. Kid has a massive future, been with us since 15 and to top it off is a HUGE Dogs fan!

Re-signed for 3 years for UNDER 1 mil a year.

So much for his 400k+ price tag per year.

Knocked back Bennentt who went hard and a fair few other clubs who threw some big money. One that has tried over and over and over only to be rejected. Whatsamatta.

Link to say it is under 1mil

Plus we never went for him

He was part of our junior system but that's it

I have no problems with that. With so many players off contract this year, not having a player on $1mil a year has to be a better situation when resigning those you need comes around.

Hopefully Sam Williams will be let go once Campo is back in the team, and the Bulldogs can offload hodgkinson (though I suspect we will be paying some of his salary for the rest of the year).

I reckon signing Williams will be better than thurston especially in the long term

~325k for a 19 year old prop is ridiculous money. We wont even see anywhere near close to his best years during the contract.

I don't think it's a bad signing but there's a lot of risk in signing up young props, I wouldn't be celebrating just yet. The name escapes me at the moment but the last time the Bulldogs were excited about a big bopper coming up through the 20's he ended up being a massive let down (Went to the Storm and I believe is back at the dogs now in Reserve Grade?)
