The Pirtek Parramatta Eels are excited to announce the contract extension of Jarryd Hayne through till the end of the 2015 season.
Hayne made his debut for the Eels in 2006 as an 18 year old and has since gone on to play 143 matches for Parramatta - his only NRL club.
Beyond this, Hayne has represented NSW in 16 State of Origin matches, Fiji for 4 games at the 2008 Rugby League World Cup and 6 tests for Australia. The 2009 Dally M Medal winner is also a local junior from the Cabramatta Junior Rugby League Club.
We are thrilled our recently appointed co-captain has extended his contract with us for another two seasons, and are excited he will be a part of our new beginning at Parramatta.
To say thank you to all of our 2013 Members for also choosing to sign on and support the Parramatta Eels, all 2013 Eels Members have been entered into the draw to win a money-can't-buy Hayne prize pack.
The prize includes Jarryd Hayne's signed match-worn jersey from Monday night's match against the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium, as well as the opportunity to toss the coin with Jarryd at an upcoming Eels home game, and a limited edition 'Hayne Plane' memorabilia piece.

Good news and i don't blame him for only signing for 2 yrs.
If with the work Ricky is doing to build is into a competitive team doesn't reap some improvements in 2 years i would be looking elsewhere to get my premiers ring before i retired too.

Well done to the board and Ricky!!! Under DF Hayne would be playing for the dogs.

Actually IIRC it was Brian Smith who would not play him and was Jason Taylor who gave him his first break in May 2006.

By the time Fitzy was deposed, Hayne had already played 5 Origin matches.

But then again, you knew that ! ;-)

Don't wish to rain on your Parra parade, but why would the dogs want Hayne when they have Barba?

Sorry, Parra dudes but I rate at least 4 current fullbacks above your man - Slater, Barba, Stewart and Bowen.

I assume Hayne and his manager would have been the ones putting forward the 2 year contract, because if the club the club requested it, Hayne would most likely (and with good reason) have told them to f-off.

That said, for a guy that's had his share of injuries of late, it's a bold move, especially in an era of long term player deals. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.
