Long gone are the days when we were the envy of many teams in the comp.......we had a club that was built on pride and passion and steeped in history...now it seems we are linked to any blow in that may be available on the open market for what ever the reason....sad isnt it. :(

Hasn't Cummins been injured?

yes, due back next week ( according to Dragons website )

I think they should've given him a few chances off the bench last year - like Canterbury did with Ben Barba & let him learn from that. I realise they're worried about throwing him in at the deep & wrecking his confidence, but to me that's the wrong approach. He might've done well or failed, but it's a good learning curve that can be applied in sport & life.

We have never been a club to sign big names anyway but we are interested now because the shortage of current talent from within and an aging squad. I think our best juniors are about 2-5 years off from first grade currently, that's why we need to buy a big name or two from outside.

Im tired of reading in the media Dragons interested in this guy or that guy. I would rather wake up to something like "Dragons sign Kurtley Beale".:D

TBH everyone has overlooked one small issue, which I cannot see happening.
The ARU have to release him.

media: "So Mr Doust i have heard the Dragons are interested in signing Kurtley Beale?"
Doust: who is Courtney Beale?
media: its Kurtley
Doust: Curtly Ambrose?
media: No Mr Doust he was a cricketer
Doust: why would we sign a cricketer?
Media: thanks for your time Mr Doust..
Doust: time, its 3.30pm, time for a crowny.

I can see Cummins leaving because he hasn't been given a chance. He & others will leave because of the uncertainty over the Dragons future. This might sound harsh, but they would prefer playing at a club that has a successful / promising coach. As a result, those clubs are attracting a good mix of current SOO players & rising stars to give them a contending team now & over the next 5 years.

Given the lack of direction at the Dragons, it's not a hard decision for 18 to 22 year old players to make.

I have an awful feeling he will be a roosters player in a few years. Mini will retire in a few years

So is nearly every other NRL side. Not many with 20k memberships.

Since the merger Saints did not need big name players as they inherited McGregor, Barrett, Wishart, Craig Smith, Fitzgibbon, Patten etc. all players that would have been in demand or where later snapped up. We inherited the Illawarra juniors in Hornby, Cooper, Bailey, etc. Browny snapped up some quality signing like Withers, Soward, Ennis, Kite (from memory). Brown was good at bringing in talent. Had a great eye hence why I think he would be good to bring back. Then Bennett came along and we got some great recruits in Boyd, Costigan, Jeremy Smith who were all big names at the time. On the back of the players Browny brought in.

It's just now they are struggling due to current coach. Who would want to play under this guy. His first year was terrible second year getting worse.
Craig Young also looks to have gone offside with the players managers hence why they don't deal with us much which is also a concern.

I Agree.

This desperate grab at any player that comes onto the market is emabarrassing and indignant.

You know, i think the best solution at the Dragons right now must be to sign the right coach first and the rest will start falling into place ? and that coach should be Nathan Brown.

He clearly has passion, a love for St.George, an ability to spot talent as Slippery righly pointed out ...and now experience. And he is still young!

He will win a premiership some day so please ? let it be with us. It is a pragmatic solution that would maintain the best of what St.George Illawarra is famous for ? and speak volumes about what the club values, its integrity, without compromising the solution that?s needed on the field right now and in the re-building process in the seasons ahead. Think what his appointment would say to up coming juniors who are considering their career prospects. It would surely reaffirm their desire to be part of the most famous club in the Southern Hemisphere. What a ceremony it would be to welcome him back. And strategically (longer term), for him and the club, it is best fit. Could you imagine Nathan Brown returning to Australia to coach at another NRL club? ...that would simply be yuk, and somehow reflect badly on the club.

I love him 8-[

...We should all band together and love him.

The usual shit from newspaper that has no credible sauce I think the writer is on the Sauce Kurtley Beale that will do me a wank from Hugme who punches his own team mates and the usual wankers on here pulling them selves thinking the club should sign him.

Just as bad as Dugan who is a utter disgrace to the game and so is this guy to his sport and nothing player with a shit attitude and to much time on his hands.

I don't think it'll be the Roosters as they have Roger Tuivasa-Sheck to replace Mini. A few possibilities are Cronulla, Melbourne or North Qld. ( Slater & Gordon both turn 30 this year & Bowen just turned 31 )
