he St George Illawarra Dragons have today announced they have signed Harry Siejka for the remainder of the 2013 season.
Siejka, 21, was previously contracted to the New Zealand Warriors but was earlier this month granted a release from the Club due to personal reasons including wanting to be closer to family.
“I’m really excited by the opportunity to play for the Dragons as they’re a Club with a rich and proud history,” said Siejka.
“I’m very thankful to be a part of the Club and look forward to getting stuck into training alongside my new teammates.”
The Bathurst Panthers junior commenced his NRL career with the Penrith Panthers and made his debut during the 2011 season against the North Queensland Cowboys.
The pivot, who can play as five-eighth or halfback, was later named in the inaugural 2012 NSW U20 State of Origin team and scored a try and ten points in the Blues’ win.
The former Australia Schoolboys U15 representative joined the Warriors ahead of this season and spent the majority of his time with the Auckland Vulcans in the NSW Cup prior to his release being granted.
“It does take a toll not being around family and friends and while I enjoyed my time in New Zealand, I also missed home,” said Siejka.
“The team here at the Dragons is a good mix of younger players and established internationals and I look forward to now being a part of that.”
Siejka will commence training with the Dragons through the Illawarra Cutters immediately and is contracted with the Club until at least the end of October.
