No half can do anything with no space. The NSW halves have had none, partly due to not facing a completely buggered defensive line like the Queensland halves, partly due to a differential 10 metres.

The whole team has been terrible, but we'll scapegoat the winger instead of the halves doing nothing

lol the exact same thing happened with Uate so whatever. The only thing is Merritt hasn't really been tested in the air yet so we don't know if he'll be as bad as Uate was there for NSW. Uate is 5x better at kick-returns though tbh.

Nobody is blaming Merritt but its clear he is out of his depth.

So he's out of his depth because of the things he's doing wrong which you just admitted he isn't actually doing wrong? Good argument.

ffs you are saying he is out of his depth because of breaks being made in his vicinity which aren't his fault. Try harder.

I agree with the others though, Morris has been shit also, and not for the first time. He's had a history of shocking defensive performances in State of Origin.

The same halftime score as Game 1, interesting.

Qld had the glut of posession within their 20 in the first 20 minutes and it shows on the scoreboard. Maloney needs to take the kicking duties off Pearce, who is playing his usual, predictable 'Bomb the in-goal' move. Perhaps it's time for Morris to make his debut?

Merritt- contributed nothing outside a decent tackle on Inglis. He can take his NSW jersey and frame it, it's the only one he'll ever see...

What is he supposed to do when there is a three on one overlap by the time it gets to Morris?

Its not just his positioning Queensland are gobbling him up when he needs to be doing what fergo did last game. Roll up the sleeves and cart the ball up.

I hope he becomes better as Queensland tire but he's been ineffective so far.

NSW deserves everything it gets if Mitchell Pearce is ever to play another game in the blue jersey. He must go. His kicking and passing game is equal to that of a bush footballer. Roosters may have a good squad but between Pearce and Maloney you'd nearly be able to punt all your wage that in a high pressure semi you won't find a decent attacking kick between them. No GF for Roosters fans this year.

As for Merritt, I purposely elected not to make comment on his selection. I think that first half shows why so many people were against his selection. He needs to do something very special in the second half. Staying on his wing would be a very good start.

Pearce has the right dad and plays for the right team.

Mullen is the form NSW half, he just plays for a shit team so is no chance.

You were going well till you mentioned Mullen. Reynolds is the form half mate and deserves to be in a sky blue jumper. Pearce hasn't found space from a kick at all

Coming off his wing when Morris had Inglis marked twice. Anyone with a brain says Merritt is having a shocker.
