Go hook up with mackdadday, that crazy sunuvvabitch. He sounds like he's got it sorted out with his booze and hookers lifestyle.

Srsly, just me but I'd experience as much as possible.

He's the guy who got me started in Korea, and the guy who has been harassing me to come join him in Turkey ever since.

I posted my thoughts on your FB page Mis, as you saw!

I'm stuck deciding between a few places where I want to hear next year- when I turn 21. Between US, Europe and a few other places.

I've lived in South East Asia and I highly recommend the experience....and I wasn't even quite old enough to fully take advantage. On the other hand Turkey is something of a dream destination for me

Spoiled for choice! TBH, they're my two top options.

Which awful company do you work for?

I was pretty lucky to work for BigPond (subcontracted through Salmat), so the work was shit but the workplace was a lot of fun.

iiNet were even better. Free internet usage without blockages, free lunch every Friday, free massages, free parties with booze once a month, and an overall fun place to work. I actually wouldn't hate ending up back there.

Pizza Hut mate. With very few exceptions, all our stores pay us to take their phone orders for them. I also work a support line for our website, which is crap. The website is maintained by a 3rd party, so my job is to listen to customer whinge, pass on any errors they report, and hope forlornly that one or two of them may be rectified within the next 6 months.

I have a lot of time for iiNet. Been with them since 2006 (I think), and have always found their support to be top notch. If they had a Brisbane call centre, I'd definitely apply for a job with them.

Fantastic employer and great perks. The customers are pretty nice generally, but I think that is a response to the company generally doing right by them.

I'd be all over a Brisbane call centre. No interest in living in Melbourne, Perth, Canberra, or Auckland. Cape Town would go alright though...

Having dated three consecutively now, I think they're worth a go. I find American girls less stuck up and high maintenance than Australian ones.

Never dated one, but seeing them from my perspective many of them seem borderline insane and very high maintenance.

It might be the novelty of the accent that helps you?

I'm not all that fussed on American accents tbh. It might be my fascination with their culture as a whole that draws me to them. I want to live in the US someday.

I meant their fascination with your accent - and the culture here is like anywhere else. Highs and lows, with the extremes being far more pronounced.

You will need more than 10 grand. I've already gone through 4.

And, Thailand. You'll get to live with a cool guy.

No doubt. Every country I've been to or lived in has been fascinating in its own way, but when you're raised on American culture - it becomes a sort of second home to you. I've loved both my visits to the US so far.

Wish they did f**king working holiday visas. Not that they'll help my almost-30-year-old ass.

This is true. We can witness wizardry without Kungl to spoil its majesty.

In the tried and true fashion of the old Knights Social forum, I'm putting my future in the hands of relative strangers.

Or, being more generous and accurate, my extended FFB family.

----

You see, I am a man of supreme indecisiveness. I'm Charlie Brown with a mean ginger beard; so I need your help deciding what my future holds.

I'm on contract here in China until next April. No plans to change that, especially now my brother and his missus live twenty minutes cab ride away.

But I do have a bunch of options for what comes next, so figured I'd get your thoughts.

Option #1 - Stay here

Renew my current 20 hour a week contract. Drink a lot on the weekends. Enjoy eight weeks of paid vacation a year in a job I like. City is a bit 'meh' socially.

Option #2 - Teach someplace else in China

Try my luck in Shanghai, Yunnan province, Sichuan province, or even Hainan with its tropical radness. Run the risk of getting a real job or being in a place with even less of a social pulse.

Option #3 - Backpack Europe. Move back to Australia for 6+ months.

Due in London for a friend's wedding. Travel around Europe for a few months and then go back to Oz for two more weddings + Christmas. Find some kind of mind-numbing call center job in Sydney while I'm home.

Option #4 - Backpack Europe. Find a teaching job in Turkey or the Middle East.

As above, except I don't come home and instead take a job in the Middle East (more money, less booze) or Turkey (less money, more booze). The latter has the perk of having a well established mate nearby and being able to travel. More flexible contract allows me to go home for my mate's wedding.

Option #5 - Backpack Europe. Find a job someplace else in Asia, probably Japan.

Asia suits me, mostly because it's cheap and we're paid more than average. Japan is a place I've always been interested in going, but the work hours + cost of living are less conducive to debauched partying.

Option #6 - Move to Thailand and live off my website/savings

I've got other blogging friends who live off their blog income/savings and basically just write, party, drink, and explore Thailand and SE Asia. The least financially viable, although I could always teach there if need be.

Option #7 - Other

I don't know why this is even an option on polls. If there were better ideas, I'd probably have had them already.

----

GoGoGo!

If you are making good bank and pretty happy with your job I would stay where and I and consolidate what I have.

Give it 12 more months and then reassess your options.

It sounds like you have found your groove.

Live in Laos/Cambodia/Thailand etc. Beautiful part of the world and you have done a lot of Asia already.

Ever thought about South America?
