Have a look at Parra in '09 to prove that.
Big guns (Storm, Souffs, Roosters, Manly) are the ones to beat though. Except Souffs, they all have the GF experience recently to do it.

Parra still didn't win it. I don't disagree with the point that any team can win it (though history suggests the winner won't come from outside the top 4) but your example was stupid. Several teams have made runs to grand finals from lower places (Warriors 2011, Roosters 2010) but none have won since probably Bulldogs 1995 under a different finals system.

You also ignore that Melbourne robbed Manly and Brisbane of the opportunity to play in that grand final.

I've said it elsewhere, the top two teams have a much better forward pack than Melbourne.

Without Widdop even more than usual rests on the big 3. Slater has not consistently been a gamebreaker in the last 12 months. So it all comes down to Smith and Cronk. At 30 those two will have to win at least two games in a row (prelim + gf) behind what in all likelyhood will be a beaten pack. I just don't think that is a realistic chance.

I think dogs are done now barba is gone. They have been to up and down this year and really havnt shown why they should be considered apart from having a coach that has been there before.
