Using a team that didn't win as proof that any team can win.

He has a point mate. Even though we didn't win the big one we really upset the apple cart that year in terms of beating the more formidable sides to get there. I think the new finals system gives the top 4 more opportunity city so I think it'll be between the top 4 again like last year but 09-11 showed a team can always sneak up and surprise you. If warriors get there they could cause some real headaches

I'm tipping a Melbourne Storm v South Sydney Rabbitohs grand final.

Roosters are doing well don't get me wrong and may get there but Souths will have learnt from last year and if they get some good wins going into the finals with out GI when he returns they will lift another gear.

Melbourne I'm picking purely because I just don't want to write them off. They're not the same team as last year but when they get some wins going leading into the finals they will be hard to stop.

Manly have the roster to win but I just think Toovey lacks what it takes to win.

Roosters for me will be like Souths last year. Just fall at the preliminary finals.

X-factor is warriors of they make the 8....only top 4 side they havnt beaten is Souths. Lost to Melbourne and roosters earlier in the year but beat them both recently

Seriously, anyone writing off Melbourne is a fool. A side that boasts Cam Smith, Cooper Cronk and Billy Slater is as good a chance as any

I think we are definitely on another level this year.

Last year Sutton was doing okay, but he is on a different stratosphere this year, his kicking and running game are much better.

But the big difference will be the forwards. Our pack is twice as good as it was last year. And I think we will have an xfactor off the bench in Keary.

George Burgess, Tom Burgess, John Sutton, Luke Keary, Dylan Walker, Matt King.

The emergence or massive improvement of each of those makes us a much better team than the one that made it to a prelim.

Also GI and Reynolds improving from their impressive 2012. Sam Burgess has managed to stay fit and Luke has managed to stay out of trouble.

Melbourne have lost a step while Souths have improved and Easts have been transformed. All part of the natural cycle of clubs going up and down.

Give Melb a month or so to get into to the swing of things with the big guys and they will be good. Still can't go past Melb v Manly GF

Haha, Matt King.

I know Dunniesman is usually an idiot, but he is on the money there. If there is a weakness we had all year it is lack of meters from our wingers. We put in two wingers on the weekend, King and Farrell, that gained 150m each against the Titans and it felt like the last piece of the puzzle. At least to me.

I would seriously consider keeping them over Merritt when Inglis is back TBH, if they can do it week to week

f**kwit. We made a prelim last year and the minor premiership in 1989. NOT EVEN 42 YEARS OF LOSING.

The last thing this forum needs is yet another troll. You have been put on my ignore list.

Bunnies man , grow up and smell the roses. I'm not a troll, just a realist. My apologises for overlooking those 2memorable years out of 42.
In 1989 Souths lost both the finals matches- CHOKE
In 2012 you were embarrassed by Canterbury and Melbourne . Also didnt Souths play in a final in 2007' and were butchered my manly ?
It's not a good record is it ? One finals win in 42 years !
Like I said, Souths can't win

If either the Warriors or Raiders finish 5th or 6th and get a home final in week one and win, there will be nervous losers from the 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 games

Good point. I think Canberra and the warriors will have no trouble with Souths. The bunnies have won just one finals match in 42 years, and lost 5, four of those by huge margins.

Before last weekend I would have the same reaction. I'll be honest in saying I was very disappointed in his selection. And then he completely shocked me.

All season we've had a hole on one of our wings. Merritt is one very good winger but Everingham and anyone else that has had the job on the other wing have not been good enough. It was one of the few holes in our squad.

Then King comes back and gives us exactly what we've been lacking last weekend. He was a very pleasant surprise.

With him performing at wing I believe our full strength starting 17 now has no major weakness. It's now just all about performing to our abilities and not choking when it matters.

Lol yeah really shaking in my boots against Canberra, a team that hasn't beaten us since 2009 and who we generally flog by 20-30 points

Canberra have points in them and their backline would carve Souths up. Inglis won't come back 100%, and without him, Souths struggle to match the top sides.
Sam Burgess is a wonderful player . Touch wood, he stays fit, cause if anything happens to Him, Souths won't win another game all season

Canberra have points in them? Where were they hiding those points when we played them a few weeks ago and they scored zero tries?
