Do really think Henry is that good ? He has had several seasons with the cowboys and only made the finals twice in the bottom 4. They havent seriously competed for the title yet under henry. They always seem to have a soft underbelly. Considering their squad I reckon they have under achieved. They have finished 12, 15, 7, 5 the last 4 years and were traveling badly this year until Henry was sacked.

As good a coach Slippers Henry may or may not be, I dont think he is the right fit for Parra. He has coached two clubs in two small towns where the newspapers are very parochial behind the team. Parra needs a coach that is extremely media savvy who can take the heat and have negative information in the paper every day. I think Sticky is a good fit there, but who that coach is outside of him I am not real sure to be honest.

It seems he knows how to build a strong roster.

I my opinion if all our recruits come next year no matter who the coach is and the "academy" remains in place. I reckon our rebuilding is finished. All we need is selective recruiting each year ( eg sign one rep and one quality player each each ) and a coach that can actually coach. Obviously this doesn't mean we will be contender straight away.

funny thing is those who pay $50'ish bucks a year have no say - the ones who pay $10 a year to have a gamble and a drink have a say on the board who run the NRL team

I rate what Henry did at the raiders but not at the cowboys - look at the shxt sandow / hayne get at the eels compared to thurston , yet the cowboys have done fuxk all under Henry. I gather that is your point about the medias love of the eels.

I think JT is a good fit - apart from being a good coach in my opinion he has actually experienced what it is like to work in the eels world of pressure. I also like JT as he as worked with Souths / roosters when they were focusing on rebuilding their side by promoting juniors.

I don't think anyone would have much of a problem with a holistic review of the club's operations (preferably by an external party). That would be a good idea. This proposal (apparently) was an ad hoc review focusing on what goes on below the level of the head coach.....to be conducted by two former coaches. If you want the coach to be held responsible for his team's performance (and I do), you can't go telling him how the coaching structure for which he is directly responsible has to operate. Give him his head and let him be assessed on what he can produce.

I'm not convinced by RS as a coach, but I want to give him a go and find out. If that turns out not to be possible, Henry is the best available option out there (at least of those resident in Aus). He also appears to be a fairly decent human being, which I believe counts in the long run.
