Ricky Stuart quits Parramatta Eels for Canberra Raiders job

Of course Canberra have not spoken to Sticky. They'd deal with his overpaid manager Fordham.

I don't get the Chairman hate over this. He didn't allow such a stupid get out clause, Spags did. What else can he do than what he is ? He's pushing the coach to make a call whilst calculating a plan B.

Gotta say that the club will hit an all time low if Sticky walks and so does a few new signings or re-signings if they too have get out clauses because of his resignation.

It's common knowledge that some directors are very close to him, so an unofficial offer is generally different to an 'official' offer..

It is clear from the article in The Australian that the board/chairman and the coach are no longer on the same page. Realistically if he stays and we under perform again in 2014 the board will punt him pretty quickly now.

Ricky Stuart is no longer a viable option as head coach in 2014. If the Raiders dont offer him the gig we will be stuffed for next year.

Sticky is very close to spag so a change of chairman and board for that matter was always going to be difficult...but hey, apparently we needed it

I think you're jumping at shadows now.

Change of board / chair man is no excuse for Ricky wanting out.

Really apart from someone leaking crap to the paper, I can't really see how the club / board is in rable or what issues Ricky has.

Ricky appears to have been given full control of the footy side of things. Peter Nolan seems to be doing his job of recruiting promising juniors.

Obviously results are poor but effort is being put in to change this.

The only main problem I can see is training facilities - and surely Ricky would have known what the club had before he signed with club. In addition the club does appear to be looking to fix up our training facilities issue - it appears the club is looking at the jail site and I think the old kings school site.

So what issue does Ricky have with the club ??

I wouldnt call the quotes from Steve Sharp the words of somone who is going to stick by the coach any longer. Sticky's position at the Club has become unteniable. If he doesnt get the job at the Raiders would should sack him immediately and move on.

The only issue he has with the club is he has got a better offer, everything else is just an excuse to try and save face.

Barry or OMC, would we be able to terminate RS's contract without a payout, if in fact he is in negotiations with the raiders?

Stuart is staying until he gets a better offer. It's obvious and he will use any excuse to justify his decision to quit if or when it happens. If I could get away with it without having to pay him out I would have him out on his ear by midday today.

This mercenary stuff is really starting to piss me off, there has to be something to it or it would've been rejected by now, we're coming onto three weeks now since the story broke.

You don't agree, that we needed it??

I am not sure what we needed, the real problem behind the scenes was a previous senior official who couldn't let go, and has friends in the media

3P did not go as well as we all hoped, big egos behind the scenes appear to have their interests first, the club second.

Of course he doesn't... he's a former rusted-on 3P supporter, who's been whining all year since Roy's mob copped the boot at the elections. ;-).

He has also stated on more than one occasion that he thinks Sharp is a good man. Need to give both sides before accusing Stags of shit like that.
