Just to clarify, JR has not been stood down but has electively resigned his post. Has been replaced by Dr Allan Hawke. JR says he is standing down because he tried in vain to save Dave Furners career, felt he was too emotionally connected to it to make sound decisions, and when that happens, it's time to turn his card in.

This move actually makes me pretty sure Ricky Stuart is coming. It hurt JR a lot to have to sack Dave, who is like family to him. The only reason for him to stand down at this point is so if the day comes, he doesnt have to sack another one of his "family" - Ricky Stuart.

FWIW - Local journo Tim Gavel tweeted this earlier tonight... he is at the Mal Meninga Medals, which is our end of year awards nights
