This thread is too serious for me to just drop in and contribute. Let me know when Rhino NQ drops in so I can discuss bewbs with him.

I tend to agree. The moment has passed for such srs dizgusshion.

One thing Baz and I can agree on, though, is that red wine is awesome! :D

Yep, keep this shyte for the "experts" in 4C.

Naaawww shucks.

Just when I was going to move on to discussing the flaws in string theory...

:D

As interesting as trivialising someones opinion because it disagrees with a particular viewpoint? ;-)

I wasn't actually referring to you in particular, ftr. I was thinking about my absurdly stupid decision to read through a very lengthy FB comment section the other day regarding a post on some popular pseudoscience. It was pretty much as bad as a youtube comment section filled with the usual rhetoric "you're closed-minded" or "you need to be more open-minded", "the evil government", "it's true *insert link to some fringe unsupported scientific theory, bonus points if it's a youtube video*".

At one point in time the vast majority of scientists believed that the earth was flat. Popular concensus among scientists proves absolutely nothing.

It's consensus, and I wasn't making an argument ad populum. I never stated that's why we should accept the theory of humanity's role in GW to be true. I posted it because where the scientific consensus is at is entirely relevant to the discussion. These people and institutions aren't just local Joe down at his fruit shop, they are experts in their field. Anyway, it's not evidence for it and I never claimed it as such. The #believe was fairly obvious sarcasm.

Nothing wrong with super serial discussion. Although now I am in a shitty mood thinking about leaving uni and whatnot.

I'm in a shitty mood because I'm in traffic on Silverwater Rd trying to get on the M4 to head west.

I just want to be on holidays already

I think, like many others, I just like to argue tbh. I find myself arguing about topics I don't particularly care about on a regular basis. Like in 4C the other day with the 'default' belief position of newborns

Going on about conspiracy theories, I mentioned to Dani a bit back about a guy at my work who goes on the Internet and believes f**king anything. He well and truly believes that the wrapping on food tin cans is what causes homosexuality.

It would be very entertaining.

I know a guy like that. He is dating my wifes BF.

Won't have a Facebook account because he thinks the government is trying to track him. Wouldn't go to a pub on his GF's birthday because they wanted to scan his license before he would be allowed in.

The guy is buying and stockpiling gold because he thinks that there will be some drastic catastrophe in the near future and currency will become worthless. Reckons the only thing that will remain valuable will be gold.
