Anyone else had a paranormal experience

I am not a religious person and dont particularly believe in the afterlife etc but I have had an experience that made me question it when i was younger

When i was 12 or 13 I was staying at my grandmothers house. I was asleep in a single bed in the far room and she was sleeping opposite me in another bed. My parents and my sister were in another room.

I woke up freezing cold and realised that my blankets had been thrown onto the floor. I got out of bed to get them and came face to face with a dark black human shape at the end of the bed. I could make out a face and the mouth was opening and closing, like when you watch a news reader on tv with it muted. All i could tell was that it was a man, and that it wasnt a young man. I was totally frozen still and this shape just stared right through me and the mouth kept opening and closing.

I slowly turned my head to look at my grandmother and she was sitting up in bed looking absolutely horrified. There was a small amount of light coming into the room from the moon so i could make out her face and also the face of the figure roughly. After a few seconds she screamed really loudly and so did i. After a few seconds the door shot open and my mother was standing there. She said the second she threw on the light the figure evaporated after throwing its arms out wide and sunk through the floor or the wall. She wasnt sure as it happened so fast.

To this day the three of us know we saw something unusual but not sure who or what it was. My grandmother swears it was my grandfather but i couldnt be sure because to me it didnt look like any person in particular.

Any similar experiences you guys know of?

My friends, Ray, Peter, Winston and Egon used to have paranormal experiences all the time. This one ghost in particular, his name was Slimer. He likes to eat stuff like hotdogs, which is hilarious because he's a ghost and the food just slides right through him.

Anyway, we managed to get rid of him by defeating the stay puffed marshmallow man and his boss Gozo the Gozarian. We had to cross the streams to get rid of Gozo. It was a real blast.

We thought that would be the end of it but then this bad ass medieval dude, Vigo the Carpathian, harnessed all the ill feeling in New York city to bring himself back from the dead. He locked himself in the art gallery but we showed him. We used his own ectoplasmic slime to bring the statue of liberty to life using positive energy. The statue smashed its way into the art gallery and after that, Vigo didn't stand a chance.

Since then... Nothing. Although it's rumoured the guys and I may be having another adventure in the near future.

None myself. But they obviously happen.
A lot of things that we now call normal used to be known as paranormal, like the Giant Squid.

Giving this a 10/10

I gotta say, this shit does interest me though. Weird stuff that we can't necessarily explain. I like that. I don't believe anything is paranormal and I reckon most ghost stories are tricks of the mind, like the one in the OP (no offence, it's still really interesting) but there's no doubt there are weird things out there.

Personally, nothing paranormal, but a couple of odd things that didn't make sense to me. But they were more natural than "paranormal"

Noone has ever had a paranormal experience.

Then you don't know what paranormal means. For example, this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norway_spiral
was a paranormal experience because the people who saw it had no explanation for it. When it was figured out what happened and it could be explained, it's no longer paranormal. Through millennia there would have been thousands of 'paranormal' experiences that could not have been explained by science at the time, while modern science could easily explain it now.

Giant Squid isn't paranormal you goose

It used to be, you goose. Just like if bigfoot was discovered tomorrow it would cease to be paranormal. It was legend until the 19th century. Here's a list of animals that were once thought to be extinct, legends or hoaxes:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_megafauna_discovered_in_modern_times
They used to be under cryptozoology which falls under paranormal.

Not to mention the giant squid was never a crypto animal. The story of the giant squid being the inspiration for the Kraken is just that. Architeuthis is a deep sea animal that doesn't ever come to the surface, unlike many deep sea squid. Humboldt squid, Pacific octopi and overactive imaginations are more likely to be the source of the Kraken myth. Sailors would likely never have seen Architeuthis.

What were they?

And I agree, it's always interested me although I rarely believe it. Things like the Wow! signal and the Bloop spark my imagination. Fun to think about.

It can be said that nothing is paranormal since if it does exist it can be explained by science eventually. But that's not necessarily what paranormal means. There are weird things out there, and it's silly to think science has found everything. Every week they come up with more stuff that even a few years ago sounded impossible.

Yeah, I don't really care for the supernatural in any form. No reliable evidence to suggest it exists. The human mind is so prone to error and (as Dawkins' is somewhat famous for saying) susceptible to hallucinations. To me if you believe in some supernatural occurrences you may as well believe in all of them.

That being said, there have been plenty of minor occasions where something out of the ordinary has happened and has done my head in. Things like Foxtel changing channel or the TV turning after I leave a room despite being the only person home alone. They both sent me mental trying to work out what had happened.

I would suggest that someone who lives nearby has the same or a similar model tv to you. Or at least, someone has a remote on the same bandwidth.
