Ok let's say that Garvey was the aggressor. What if the "victim" was edging him on all night and then finally, snap, Garvey reacts. What would happen then if there was no suffiecent evidence of this "victim" being the aggressor first. Does it become a his words against mine scenario or do they just go off the assult???? Let's face it, I'm sure that's happend to people you know where they react to the rants and things that go on in the background.

RVP, being "edged", or whatever, is no defence for smashing the bloke. IF that happened.
Garvey at present is innocent. For his sake, i hope it works out.

Lets see what witnesses, staff and cameras come up with. I understand your frustration, but too many a young lives have been lost of late, as a result of the so called coward punch.

As a father, it worries the sh.. out of me.

I'm all up for this "coward punch" things to be erased. I strongly agree that this coward act has to stop and no matter what the excuses are. no matter who you are in life, Footballer or general public. Also agree with you on the father figure part of things, cause I, like yourself, am a young father of 2. I wouldn't call it fraustrated, but in this scenario or any scenario, there's alway 2 sides to a story. If Garvey is in the wrong and performed a coward act, the yes I'm with you on calling him to step down and being terminated from his contract. Like you said, for his sake he has nothing to worry about.

Firstly, I hate the fact that we're even talking about this. Without doubt, it's a low point in Dragons history and I've been a dragons supporter for near on 40 years (my dad was a Dragons supporter before me).

I wasn't at the club/pub where this took place, and hence, don't really know all the facts, but, if it wasn't self defence on Garveys part (which looks unlikely), then I don't really want him in the red V.

Neither does the Snap Dragon (Mrs Conditionally Human). And She's a Tigers Supporter.

Sad days indeed.

Couldn't agree with you more.

Agreed .

We are only discussing this as it crosses many issues, and innocence is being assumed in all cases as far as I am concerned. This dialogue is healthy for all concerned.

Mrs Conditionally Human is correct CH :D (apart from Tigers issue).

You are all being too kind to the players. The players shouldnt be in a position to be baited all night. For god sake where is the anticipation in these players. They act as if they are demi gods and we are mere fodder.

Dino, these guys have programs with all clubs to cover the issues you have raised.

Some players adhere, others dont.

Lets just wait to see what happened. Like I have said, if guilty ... gone.

Sorry, meant to say that have social programs on how to handle themselves in public, what to do , how to avoid confrontation etc. All clubs do it, some better than other.
In other words, the clubs / NRL does what it can to prepare them for situations that arise, and the best strategy for them to take under such conditions.

This is the first incident in years at our club.....I think everyone just needs to chill out a bit and remember that the footy is back and let the Garvey situation handle itself.

We got some business against the tigpies to handle people....

No disrespect Elias, but this thread is related to this issue.
There are hundreds of other threads for people to read should this issue have no interest.
It is a civil discussion about a pertinent matter that does relate to the Club, and on a greater scale our society.
Having said that, cant wait for the season to roll on.

Hear what you are saying tru saint but this is not a full blown crisis as some here are making out to be....that's what I meant by chill out...

The club have stood him down which sends the message that it is being dealt with and the law of the land will run its course.

A young bloke has made a mistake, that's all. It could be a costly one for him but that is life. H will learn (hopefully) and move on.

You are right when you say it relates to our club obviously, but lets not get "daily telegraph" here and sensationalise the situation.

Urgency and pride...
well said ;-)

1 week to go and all this drama, not sure it's a positive, our guys don't seem to have that team fighting spirit of late!? It will either hang on their minds or they'll play like a well drilled and coached team....um.....scratch the last bit....
