    RFL take over

Absolutely shambolic. Nothing short of burning it all down and starting fresh will save this lot from themselves.

    Pacific Championships 2024

The plan, which we can assume is subject to change, is for NZ to tour England in 2027. Australia was going to tour England in 2028 but with 2025 swapping I'd imagine this could change to England touring Australia instead, or move to 2029.

    Pacific Championships 2024

Also I said this yesterday but I could come round to an alternative format which is 6 Nations with 4 games and final. 2027 Pools A - Australia, PNG, Fiji B - Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands. Play once each within pool plus one crossover game. Crossover games are A1 v B1, A2 v B2, A3 v B3. It's...

    Pacific Championships 2024

The bigger downside I think is if you have all the top teams playing each other every year, you are devaluing the world cup. A 6 Nations with all the top teams is just a world cup minus the shit teams. Other international sports either run exclusively tours and friendlies between world cups...

    2025 Ashes Tour

Could be. Would be a massive disappointment after they hyped it up as a valid replacement for cutting WC teams. Not really a series is it.

Latest IMG proposals for Super League

Bringing back War of the roses is closer to bringing back NSW city v country than emulating Origin.

    Pacific Championships 2024

You've been angling for NRL expansion for the better part of 2 decades but you don't think expansion or international growth is something the RFL should have valued in their made up criteria for what they want the sport to look like. Fascinating.

Latest IMG proposals for Super League

You would hope that results in a boost next time... I can only assume that's their gameplan. Having standalone TV slots each week with the better games in prime time like the NRL does could only help too. Currently its a mess, 3 games on at once, different days each week. Yuck.

Genuinely wild that Argentina are better at Rugby Union than France are at Rugby League right now

    2025 Ashes Tour

A lot of people hoping for an old style tour with a bunch of mid-week club games is straight delusion. Kangaroos won't pay for a whole second squad to go over, and no clubs will let their players do 2 games in a week on rep duty. So we can scratch that idea. I'd love to see: * Aus v NZ...

The rebirth and decline and rebirth of International Rugby League

I think if 2009-2017 you ran an England tour instead of the 'off' years when the Kangaroos were too lazy to play it would have been near perfect.

    Pacific Championships 2024

I don't think its simplifying anything to say that England have made near-zero, at times negative effort to improve the France situation, regardless of specific numbers. Letting Catalans in was a rare forward thinking move from the RFL and not since repeated, despite its obvious success. There...

The rebirth and decline and rebirth of International Rugby League

NSW government lack of interest was definitely a factor in 2017, can't comment on other years/events. But still, felt like cutting off our nose to spit our face.

Latest IMG proposals for Super League

Reviving War of the Roses is a fantastically stupid idea only the backwards English league fans could come up with as the way forward. When so much of their league are imports, and a decent number from France or London, it is a regressive move. It is clear that England need competitive NH...
