The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Optus was built on acres of green space with nothing around. Gabba is 1 suburb from the CBD, surrounded by 4 busy roads and soon to be a busy train/busway. Not to mention a significant part of the stadium is cantilevered over two 4-lane roads. If they rebuilt it to suit the Olympics, even more...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

The bid was completely inept. The original bid was based on a total spend of $900M, which in hindsight is either a complete lie or gross incompetence.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

What visitors and future tourism? No big events will ever be at the Gabba. Suncorp is in a much better location and will be the same capacity, even after almost 4B spent on the Gabba. QEII is already home to Queensland Athletics and multiple other sporting organisations, with events almost...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

The Gabba can't host athletics without a complete knockdown and rebuild, costing 3b+. The field isn't big enough to accommodate a running track and there are 2 major roads on either side. Hence the reason they didn't want to do it in the 1st place. Why build the most expensive stadium in the...

Is magic round Saturday completely sold out?

    2024 Crowd Watch

Smaller stadiums, but we should have 4 sell outs next week. - Cronulla - Penrith - Manly - Redcliffe

    2024 Crowd Watch

Crowd predictions for the rest of the round. 1. 23,000 - Knights v Raiders. Knights got 29k + for the last 3 games of the season. But you'd have to imagine Thursday night will knock at least 5k off that. 2. 23,000 - Warriors v Sharks. Warriors sold out the majority of the games in the back...

Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

Hopefull 9 try for another NRL game on Saturday in the next TV rights. They already do it for the last 2 months of the season.

    2024 Crowd Watch

I wouldn't be surprised if a heap of locals just brought tickets to see the stadium. Raiders have a massive waitlist for season ticket holders and single tickets can go for $300-$400+ each. Taking the whole family for $19 instead of $1,900 is pretty enticing.

    18th club, whose next?

:laughing: How do you manage to say things which such confidence when 95% of the time you are straight up wrong?

Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

Majority if not all of the 1st XV, a decent amount of the 2nd XV. Close to half of the U16a's, a decent amount of the U15a's then a few here and there in younger age groups.

Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

Maybe 10 years ago. You'd likely have 30-50 kids on rugby scholarships at every school between all the grades now days.

Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

GPS schools have multiple rugby teams for every grade. Nudgee has over 35 teams.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

Combat sports are at an all high time in terms of participation and popularity. CTE won't have any effect on the NRL.

    Pacific Championships 2024

Adding France and Lebanon would make a great end-of-year international test window. Leave England to host touring teams, the game over there needs a boost. Hopefully after a few years France can get to a higher level and host their own tours.
