Match Discussion: Round 21 vs Canberra @ GIO Stadium Canberra, Bruce / Ngunnawal

It doesn’t, I agree, but it’s worse than that alone. The coach has to figure out a way, whether that’s working harder on the commitment to the chase, or kicking to certain targets, or getting the right people kicking from attacking positions if the halves on the day are not up to it. And...

Match Discussion: Round 21 vs Canberra @ GIO Stadium Canberra, Bruce / Ngunnawal

If there was one single element of the AOB tenure to sum up why he has to go, it’s the fact we still haven’t figured out how to make our attacking kicking game an advantage rather than a disadvantage. We still don’t really contest kicks unless Hunt has an individual crack. We don’t really do...

That decision is criminal. It’s beyond a joke, it’s completely farcical bordering on incompetence. And yet somehow not even that surprising.

And promising halfbacks will continue to ignore us if we continue to have the worst forward pack in the NRL, whether Ponga is a Knights player or not.

Fair, I should have been clearer I'm not saying any of this retrospectively. I don't blame Ponga or his contract for our predicament. He's a superstar, he's great to watch, he's provided a lot of highlights and when we've functioned as a team it's been great. I'm more interested in what happens...

Sharpe on around 600k and delivering consistently elite performances would also be exactly the type of situation that does give a club a window at a premiership, when outstanding talent in key positions is not breaking the bank yet. In that scenario, it's justified having Brown's massive...

    Around the Grounds

I can't understand anyone not seeing that with 1. Sharpe, 6. Brown, we would already have the foundations of an elite spine for many years. Both are highly likely to be among the better players in those positions in the NRL over the next 5 years. But actually playing in those positions is...

For whatever it's worth I completely agree with you on this. It's all about team balance, regardless of whether Ponga is technically the 'best player' in that team. It doesn't matter if he is or isn't, or even how much better he theoretically is to the next best player. But it does matter if his...

Match Discussion: Round 11 vs Parramatta @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

I don’t think we’re there at all. It’s scary but didn’t make it untrue. Right now you could say we still defend with some intent to defend our line. If that stops when we drop our heads later in the season, then we can sink even lower.

I would be genuinely humiliated at this point.

Match Discussion: Round 11 vs Parramatta @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

We get beaten at the little things like leaping for the high ball, competing on loose balls, not paying attention at restarts, kick/chase, one on one strips, everything. All whilst not ever attempting to play any attacking or aggressive football whatsoever. It’s hard to fathom.

Match Discussion: Round 11 vs Parramatta @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

If we were a downhill team with excellent attention to detail and discipline you might feel well that’s fair enough. But how is an NRL team neither one nor the other, let alone both?

Match Discussion: Round 11 vs Parramatta @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

If AOB is serious he will exit gracefully of his own accord. There’s no way he could think he’s the man to turn this around. It’s obvious it’s not. We don’t show a single sign of potential improvement. Not one. It simply must reach a stage where everyone mutually agrees it’s untenable.

Match Discussion: Round 11 vs Parramatta @ McDonald Jones Stadium, New Lambton / Awabakal

AOB might be getting close to sacking himself at this point. There becomes a point where you realise the problem is you. His facial expression is one of complete incredulity and confusion. He has no idea what’s going wrong,

Literally everything we do is so pointless. There is zero attempt to do anything other than exist and finish the game.
