It was on at the same time as a Lions v Swans game - which 10 almost certainly showed live - the entire premise of their half of the bid was to show the northern markets games live into NSW/QLD on Saturdays. It was almost certainly shown in Round 20, 2005 - Nine showed the game on Friday...

Ratings are program length, not match length. Fox programming tends to be shorter than Seven Seven has different programming lengths for different days. have fun with the calculation

The AFLs problem with scheduling is what it always is - they wont play Sunday/Monday nights due to crowd concerns and they have overlapping matches on Saturday, Sunday....and even Friday. The real strength is the regionals. Perth/Adelaide AFL arent massively short of Brisbane NRL, and...

I cant see Demons/Lions rating 160 in Perth, however I can see the Western Derby rating 150k in Melbourne, but not 36k in Brisbane. Either way, they wouldnt have beaten the NRL on average ratings, but I dont think a Western Derby shown nationally (or a Showdown) would have rated much less. The...

You think their media rights value comes from where again?

Mostly, The AFL do it because way back in 2012, they committed to showing local games in local markets as a means of maximising broadcast value for Seven - in theory. They learnt it from Nine and the NRL who did it for years on Friday nights in QLD/NSW. And also because the Vic market is such a...

As posted to the other thread - strictly speaking not entirely true - AFL averages dropped with the introduction of GWS/GOld Coast but have been trending gradually upward, but NRL growth is amazing since COVID.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

GWS/Suns did a real number on AFL average attendance, but NRL attendance growth has been nothing short of amazing since coming back from COVID

The stadium capacity reduction was a cricket requirement, not an AFL one. Specifically for sight screens and a summer pool deck facility. Actually with most AFL clubs and stadiums, the issue is those seats arent for sale, its the club members with reserved seats and stadium members not showing...

There is no timeframe for a team 20. I dont consider any of them to be viable. The only cost effective option by 2034 will be WA3, by then the GIants will be in Canberra more than WS, and the Suns will be fortunate if they are still alive.

Canberra, like Nth Queensland, Newcastle and Darwin, have about as much a chance of getting an AFL team in the near future as the land of Oz.
