Possm, if as you say Mata'Utai has been going well in the cutters, then surely Farrell should be running out of time in 1st grade.

Don't rate Cooper?

You're right, my mistake I definitely would have Cooper in the side. I think Harrison is due for a big one so if Garvey is not available maybe Cooper for 14. If Price is going to surprise by selecting Garvey, then I think Ah Mau will have to miss out. His defence has been a bit suspect of late.

Rein could play 80.
Comes down to giving a rest on the field if necessary.
If he's a bit tired, Witt could run s set coming out of trouble while he has a rest.
Centres/Wingers having a run here and there.
We could squeeze 80 out of Rein, especially if our others forwards are fresher for defence.

Quinlan hooker don't think so.
You really can't pick him on the bench either.

So now that's another kid lost thnx to clueless.

Just to appease him he now picks him regardless

I think you will find if Quinlan is on the bench we will come on at 7 and Witt will bump up to hooker to cover Rein when he has a spell. It makes perfect sense at Witt has played some hooker and can cover Rein in defense if the Tigers game is anything to go by. You can't just put anyone at 9 and you just have to have a look at how many of Stanley's ball have hit the ground and he actually has ball skills. It's a specialist position, I'm not saying you have to be a hooker to play it but you have to display the same skill set. I wish we had the positions sorted as it does my head in so imagine being Price? He can only pick whats in front of him and form hasn't been consistent across the park. Au Mau has dropped off a bit and Farrell showed us a glimpse but if he has another quiet game Matautia must be close to getting a run.

All that happens anyway. Who would cover for him in defence?

My team this week

1. Dugan

2. Morris
3. Beale
4. Mata'Utia
5. Nightingale
6. Widdop
7. Witt
8. Stockwell
9. Rein
10. Cooper
11. Creagh
12. Thompson
13. Merrin

14. Quinlan (To come on at 7 and Witt to 9 to rest Rein)
15. Harrison (If he can't lift for this chance he is banished!)
16. Ah Mau (needs a good game before Friz and JDB come back or is in danger)
17. Ailaomai (fitness is a concern so would use for 2 short stints when the opposition is tired)

Having Quinlan come on to halfback and Witt to hooker is the dumbest move it would disrupt the team and we're needing Witt or Williams all the game time they can get to form a combination with Widdop

I don't think he's rubbish, should have won a bench spot more often than he did, I think he's just not a Pricey favourite for whatever reason therefore won't get much of a chance.

This.
I think he is a very handy player who just needs the opportunity to show his wares but for some reason he is not on prices right side.

From the top down it is a club of favourites. So unionised. No doubt they'll strike soon. Dan Hunt deserves more money.

1. Quinlan just played half last week so little disruption

2. We have been using Stanley as a DH which has been disruptive so far as he isn't suited or experienced in that role and I'm pretty sure doesn't want it

3. Witt has plenty of experience as a hooker

4. Williams got dropped due to brain explosions with midfield chip kicks and the dropped balls against the Sharks the week previous. He hasn't been selected last week or this week

5. We are talking about an interchange of 15-20mins of the game unless we get a roll on and are making line breaks or scoring tries then you would extend it

6. It gives the defense something different to deal with and especially when they are tired and slow to react Quinlans speed can take advantage of that. Do you really see either Witt or Williams making a 40mtr break? They haven't yet given Witt hasn't played a full game and Williams doesn't seem to have any pace......great short kicking game and possibly still our long term prospect.

I'm just making a point and have no real objection to any of the 3 spending time at half as they all have something to offer, I just object to anyone bagging the selections and if you train for those changes in time it should be seamless. Amongst many things that killed us in the back end of Bennetts tenure was our predictability.

What's killed us this year is our discipilne, attitude and defence not our half selections. I agree making 2 changes instead of 1 is generally not desirable unless you can do it to your advantage and potentially that is the case with us. We have other options as well with a few putting Garvey up and we will only find the balance by trying a few things. The comp is not won in the 1st half of the season and we want to have our best possible team by mid season so don't panic!

lol read your post agin but still will post mine anyway less the sarcasm

I'm off to the optomitrist 2mr as I thought you typed Dan Hunt deserves more money??? Love the guy but he is standing in the way of others more physically capable and leading by example means not getting smashed every time you carry the ball and one would expect driving the occasional player backwards when you tackle. Limited penalties from a senior player is also desirable.

At his peak he was pushing for SOO and he deserved it, had some offloads in him and desperate defence but he is way off the pace right now and we need one spot to test a few forwards out and rotate off the bench and Dan has to make way for that as he is the least effective forward at present.

I've seen enough of Michael Witt to think that he is blessed with endless mediocrity.

I don't dislike him, but I don't understand, or agree with his selection as our starting half. If he really is the clubs best halfback, then I see us finishing well outside the Eight this year.

To judge him on just his limited time at Dragons so far, is to ignore a long career that has yet to achieve any great heights, and as I've said, I've watched him play plenty of times, and am singularly unimpressed.

I hope I'm wrong about him (I have been wrong before), because I love my Dragons, and I really hate loosing.

Can't argue as really I've only seen Witt against the Tigers in the 1st game and I thought his attack was sound and his defence was sensational for a 7. As they saying goes....you are only as good as your last game! Our danger now is if he has a shocker lol wtf can Price do? Before our 1st game I said that the team must pick itself or create selection issues by great form but unfortunately for Price he has to deal with injuries, indifferent form and being trounched by Bronco's/Souths to form his own opinions.....not easy!
